Thread: recommendations ^_^

hello!!! i'm currently looking for a new series to read... any suggestions? i read naruto, bleach, history's strongest disciple kenichi, claymore, hunter x hunter, finished flame of recca... i was looking for something like those stated above... sorry i dunno the exact category of what im looking for... i want mangas with ninjas or humans with power or something (naruto, recca, HXH, claymore), and im also interested in martial arts or sports manga with a little adult content like history's strongest disciple kenichi, so it won't be much of a kiddo stuff ^_^ thanks in advanced... looking forward to any suggestions and recommendations...

Kekkashi -- one of the best of the currently running series of the type. It looks initially a little like a Bleach clone, but soon turns original and gets even better.

The most adult sports manga I know is Adachi's H2. Though by the time he finishes Cross Game, it may be even better.

is it just me or is one piece missing on your list?
well i guess you've just forgotten to name it.

hehehe!!! i actually don't read one piece as of the moment... i know its a great series, so happened that i'm not interested yet... maybe some other time...

Second the recommendation for Kekkaishi. The category/genre, by the way, is shounen action/adventure, with a fantasy angle.

Another relatively new and upcoming one is Fairy Tail, which is basically about an adventurer's guild of magic-users that get sent out on missions.

And there's always Rave Master (a.k.a. Groove Adventure Rave) and MAR (Marchen Awakens Romance) if you want more of those. These series aren't as strong as the ones on your initial list, but they're not bad - still above average.

As for sports manga, also strongly second the recommendation for H2 (baseball, between two best friends and romantic rivals on opposing teams). I think you would probably enjoy Eyeshield21 (American football with some really hilarious characters and special techniques) and Hajime no Ippo (boxing, with a guy who rises slowly from wimp to champion) as well.

For martial arts...
I'm thinking whether to recommend AIKI or not. May be a bit too adult for your tastes.

Change Guy is a pretty good manhwa if you want just pure martial arts fighting nonstop, without any weird supernatural powers or relationship distractions.

yet another recommendation for kekkaishi .... trust me you'll like it, don't watch the anime though it's somehow a different story than the manga.

don't know how old u are or have u even read it already, read chinmi, u might wanna start by reading "kung fu boy" first, then move on to "new kungfu boy", and then "chinmi legend".

and there's also shaman king.

and if u like ninja, fight, magic, school life, you could always read mahou sensei negima. it got ninja girl, vampire girl, robot girl, ghost girl, chinese kenpo master girl, samurai girl, and another one....... oh yeah don't forget your ten year old teacher that can use magic......

ha... i see. old enough then... try to-love-ru, sekirei (well it's not really a serious fight but it's in your area: adult, fight, suprnatural,...), AIKI, change 123, and there's also yakuza girl (maybe too wierd for your taste, but who knows...)
