Default Dark, serious, well drawn manga/anime

I am looking for dark, well drawn manga/anime, as I really like that stuff.

List of the Ones I know:
    Manga
    Angel Heart
    Abara
    Blame!
    King of Thorns
    Noise
    Monster
    Skyhigh
    The Ring
    Anime
    Angel Heart
    Devilman Lady
    Ergo Proxy
    Jigoku Shoujo: Girl from Hell
    Monster
    Serial Experiments Lain
    Texhnolyze
    Witch Hunter robin

    My oppinion about them.
hope that this enables better recommendations.
(can be deleeted if too long)

    manga:
    Angel Heart
The first part, is about a killer hunted/driven by visions after transplantation of a new organ.
this is good (I know there is a horror manga about organ transplantation leading to visions, but donīt know the name)
Later the manga remains good and funny, but is no longer "dark"

    Abara
The fall of a schifi mega city due to supposely human made monsters.
    Not my favourite Nihei manga.

    Blame!
The travels of Killy in a deadly scifi structure.
If the end was better, this would be in my best ever list.

    King of Thorns
A group of people with a fatal disease awake in a monster infested castle ruin.
I dislike survival horror games, but as manga its good

    Noise
The battle between a young police officer and a murderous sekt.
Good, at least I like it better than Abara

    Monster
    Mad man and the Docktor
Certainly hard stuff, a little to serious for me.

    Skyhigh
The souls of the murdered gain the chance to take revenge, go to heaven or become a ghost.
A good short ghost story manga.

    The Ring
    No explanation needed.
    The films are better

    anime:
    Angel Heart
like it, but the manga is better

    Devilman Lady
About the same as witch Hunter Robin: Fight against the monsters and the intrigues of the supposed allies.
I Think this one is not as good as WHR but still OK

    Ergo Proxy
A man without memory who can turn into deamonlike creatur discovers the nature of his kind.
This was very much my style, seems like the "uncover a hidden truth" part is a necessity to me
I also liked the AI sidestory of the little robot girl

    Jigoku Shoujo: Girl from Hell
Offering people revenge but taking their soul to hell after death.
Sounds a little like skyhigh but not as good

    Monster
About the same as the manga.

    Serial Experiments Lain
A girl with talent for computers discovers her true hidden nature.
    I like this.

    Texhnolyze
Didnīt really understand it, was late when I saw it on TV, but as i recall, it was dark and good

    Witch Hunter robin
The fight against the witches and the intrigues of the supposed allies.
Thats not really new, but exactly what I like.

Eh, the usual Berserk/Death Note/D.Gray-Man (actually, if you haven't read DGM, do so - it isn't as dark as those, but it's not as cuddly as its shounen exterior suggests).

Otherwise, maybe... Alive, Blood+, Elfen Lied, Gantz, anything by Kaori Yuki, Manhole, xxxHOLiC? They're all horror series (except for Death Note, but it's all dark and serious and stuff, although you've probably heard of it).

    ^ Thanks thats plenty
I didnīt consider Berserk as dark but (like claymore and basilisk) as harsh, brutal fantasy. (I like that genre as well though I hate Basilisk)
I jut dislike Death Note and Gantz but I know them and they are dark indeed
D.Gray-Man was alway on my "to read" list maybe this is next.
Alive Just know the name, have to look
Blood+ Is not only good, it even follows about the same sheme as Wich Hunter robin and Devilman Lady (better than second, how could Iīve forgotten it)
Elfen Lied This one and Gunslinger Girl I just like if watched as parody, I was never sure, if they realy are or if they are serious (To much cliché to be serious)
Kaori Yuki nevere heard of that... must look
Manhole nevere heard of that... must look
xxxHOLiC Just know the name, have to look

Hmmm... well, you've read most of what I was going to recommend. But maybe a couple of post-apocalyptic stories might interest you:

7 Seeds is about four scattered groups of teenagers waking up after being cryogenically frozen to find that Japan lies in ruins and most of nature has mutated into a survival horror show after a radioactive disaster.

The Legend of Mother Sarah is about a one-armed mother who searches for her three children in the deserted, bandit-infested wasteland that was once called Earth.

    ...

School Days anime, perhaps? (If there ever was such as thing as a dark harem series, this would probably qualify...)

    -Dizzy-
Manga Genre Focus: Romance, Comedy, Slice-of-life. Primarily shounen, then seinen and shoujo.

Small correction to Dizzy's post -- 7 Seeds isn't after a radioactive disaster, but after a meteor strike destroys the earth's ecosystms ... and all living humans. (And, actually, it's five groups, but the scanlations haven't gotten to the volumes with fifth group yeat.)
Today is always the most enjoyable day. Just ask Yotsuba.

    Awesome list. Kekeke.

Put Eternal Sabbath and Kiseijuu on that and you got what you wanted. Forget the other shoujo, shounen shit posted on this thread. Kekeke.
