Wow... And here I was thinking that I was the only one with a secret love for DBZ because of the fight scenes. :P (I used to make music vids)

But yes, if you can get past the fillers and watch purely for the battles, there's some awesome stuff in there. I particularly liked the first half of the Goku/Frieza fight (not saying the other part was bad, just less in terms of choreography) and Goku/Cell too.

And yes, Cowboy Bebop is made of awesome.

WHY HASN'T ANYONE MENTIONED THE ALMIGHTY GODLINESS OF DARKER THAN BLACK?!

Well it as some "fantasy" elements in it (no crazy magic girls though, thank god) but it has some of the best fight scenes of the year. Plus, with a interesting setting and a mesmerizing plot, plus a totally GAR lead, Darker than BLACK is just awesome.

    I doubt anyone mentioned Grenadier.

I'd like to die with the songs I love stuck in my head. I hope to make the most of these hollow bones we become.

Bout time someone actually mentioned something beyond the typical lists. (I had to bring up DBZ, for the love of Banstick.)

I'd recommend Gungrave personally. Particularly if you don't know anything about it first.

couple of good fantasy fighting animes
    1)Claymore
2)Ergo Proxy: the fight scenes are little, but they are decent
    3)Shin Angyou Onshi the movie
4)Tenjou Tenge The Past Chapter (OVA)
    5)Berserk: insane fighting scenes

I would say and note that these are well choreographed and realistic, also i certainly wouldnt put DBZ in here, nothing impressive about semi-teleporting to dodge attacks at absurd speed then to fight at normal speed again.

1)Seirei no Moribito - the best i have seen in a series
2)Darker than Black - short but very well done and realistic physics
Chevalier D'Eon - awsome sword fighting, very realistic and fast paced
3)Full Metal Alchemist - short fight scenes but its great, even if it has 'Alchemy'

there are others that are pretty good though inconsistencies ruin them eg. early series of naruto was good though had that disappearing and appearing somewhere else thing. Many fighting shows such as basilisk , tenjo tenge are good but just not realistic enough even to fit into their own world

wow i just saw Seirei no Moribito, and the action and animation of this series its just top notch. I have to second it to anyone intrested in a decent story and above average animation, and INCREDIBLE fight scenes. Its not decent, its actually amazing. Definitely one of the best animes with the best choreographed fights.

I'm just wondering why I haven't seen this series earlier, if any other series looks this good, plz reconmmend it.

Anime-wise, one of my favorites for fight sequences is Kazemakase Tsukikage-ran. The fights are quick but just... amazing. Also, Karas - think a Japanese and much darker/more awesome Batman
