Thread: Great Teacher DPredator's Guide to Leeching off bots in mIR

I decided to make this guide basically because there are alot requests going around that can easily be obtained from a certain bot on IRC

Step 1 - Downloading mIRC: You can download mIRC from the following site www.mirc.com

Step 2 - Connecting to the Server: The server which we want to connect to is irc.irchighway.net, you can either connect to it by selecting it from the Server List and hitting "Connect To Server" or typing "/server irc.irchighway.net" (without quotes mind you) in the status window or you can click this link irc://irc.irchighway.net/lurk either way is fine.

Step 3 - Joining the channel #lurk: (NOTE: if you clicked the link to connect to the server IRC will automatically join the channel), you can the channel by either typing "lurk" in the mIRC Favorites which will pop-up when you are connected or you can join the channel by typing "/join #lurk" in the status window

Step 4 - Finding what you are looking for: Go to the following site http://lurker.myshelter.net/ then go to "Search" (we will search for Naruto Volume 1 in this lesson) then type in the name of the manga you are looking for in this case Naruto.

Step 5 - Getting what you want: Once you are done you should see a list of availabe downloads (referred to as "packs" on IRC) (Note: this channel also uses a bot named "[UR]DAN" this bot ONLY SERVES RAW mangas, any other bot is fine) as you can see on the list there is a bot named "Neverwhere" which has the pack ( http://img31.echo.cx/img31/765/img0hj.jpg ) (advanced users if you click on the "#" next to the name you get to a page where you can easily copy and paste the command needed to download Naruto Volume 1) the most important thing to remember is the Pack Number which in this case is 1939 next is the command to receive the pack which is "/msg botname xdcc send #pack number" in this case it should be "/msg Neverwhere xdcc send #1939" hit enter and a few moments later you will see a notice that the bot is trying to send you a file select a directory if needed then accept the transfer and wait for it to finish.

That's all there is to it, you can also do this with other bots as long as you know the pack number for the file you want.

It already always is ^_^;;

Ahh I don't think my lifeblood sucking tentacles are ever coming out... (I realize leeches don't have tentacles its just a metaphor for my draining bandwidth)

not everyone can use, or they dont like to use irc for some reason. I'm one of them. I currently have a 2mb connection, but when i use irc or bt im lucky if i can get 1-3kbs, which makes dling manga a nightmare, and anime an imposiblity. Hell it takes close to an hour to dl a chapter hehehe

lol, it's that the guy who shares has a bad upload ^^
but me too, i don't use irc often... it's just too old and stinky and ugly...
and so extremely not user friendly

in fact i go there just when i "nead" some manga or anime i don't think anywhere or when i want to dl them (very) fast on xdcc
