Default does anybody else think akai is still alive?

anybody? I mean after reading the latest chapter(621) eisuke said something happened to the FBI, as if somebody had died, but conan seemed like he already knew and wasn't fazed at all. So I think he and akai came up with a plan to fake akai's death.

maybe... hmm, it'll be interesting to see what happens next. i'm surprise conan so easily gave up who he really was to eisuke, but i guess he's allowed to since he knows that eisuke is also caught up in all this.

Red face I dont think so

I really doubt that Shuichi Akai is still alive. The Black Men (including Gin!!!) saw his death, and it's too strange for the police to do a mistake at the fingertrips. Also, only a few guys touched Shinichi's mobile phone (including himself, Akai and Jodie, only 3). So, unless Aoyama wants to resurrect death people (maybe with that drug :-O) I think that he's dead *praying for his soul* But, as I said before, its imposible to predict Aoyama, so maybe you can stick in this posibility.

well I originally thought he was dead too and that he sacrificed himself for rena since he still feels guilty about ai's sister and he knows conan can take his place, but conan is very calm about it, which makes me suspicious

the latest chapters do seem suspicious... especially how eisuke said if conan hasn't heard of anything, it must be ok. and then conan smiles and says yes it's ok. that really makes me think that akai is really alright, but we'll see.

Im sry, but when Conan said that, he puts a sad face (its a sad face, im sure of it), referring that SOMETHING happened, but he wont tell it, probably because it hurts him. So hes dead (probability of it 90%, probability to think the same as Aoyama UNKNOWN). Also, he was killed in front of one of the best black organisation members, GIN. I dont think he will be mistaken.

P.D. I will said it again, and thousand of times. Its imposible to predict Aoyama. So you can be right and wrong. We will see. But I still think that he's dead.

It's a "quiet commiseration" sort of face, as if he understands her pain and is helpless to do anything about it. Unless you're talking about the Eisuke moment, in which case, that is most certainly a confident gleam in his eye.

Plus, Gin wasn't directly observing the events. They were a distance away, and they relied on a hidden camera on Rena's person with limited view.

Personally, I'm absolutely convinced that Akai's "death" has been part of the plan from the very beginning.

    - File 600: Akai says, "This is a live-or-die match." There isn't really anything risky for Akai personally until the encounter with Rena.

    - File 602: Akai picks up Conan's cell phone to prevent him from calling the Professor (p11), and as the agents file out, the two have a private moment where they allude to their risky plan (p15). Considering the knowing look on Akai's face and the tension on Conan's, everything from this point has been planned and scripted out -- including Akai leaving his fingerprints on Conan's phone.

    - File 604: Just as File 600 cuts off right after we see Eisuke sneak in, the flashback in 604 cuts off just as Akai proposes her return. We don't see the end of that conversation -- and we won't see it until the time is right.

    - File 605: Gin is suspicious of the ease with which they regained Rena (p17, File 603 p12, 14). Akai and Conan know that the Organization has always been suspicious of her (File 605 p5), and are most likely shrewd enough to realise that the Organization's reacquisition of Rena (instead of her dying in the hospital) would raise the alert level even further. Rena's loyalty would be tested, one way or another. What better way to kill two birds with one stone than to dangle out Akai as bait?

    - File 607: Jodie declares angrily that her phone has been broken since morning and Conan lends her his phone (p15). However, she had taken Conan's call in the morning before heading straight out for the crime scene (File 606 p. It must have somehow gotten broken on her trip there, or while she was there -- and we've known Conan to tamper with cell phones before (File 598 p14). Conan offers her his cell phone -- which, coincidentally, is the same type as hers, and he's also cleaned off all his personal messages. There's enough time between now and Akai's prints for him to have wiped everything off, reapply his own fingerprints as well as someone else's (not Akai's), and now adding Jodie's to the mix.

    - File 609: During the entire encounter with Rena, Akai leaves one hand in his trouser pocket, even after being shot in the lung (p2) and being shot in the head (p4). There's definitely something up his sleeve. Later, when we see a body burning, both hands are in pockets (p6). Huh? A dying Shuu removes his left hand from the bullet wound and puts it in a pocket? Unlikely. [The corpse's right hand is unburned as well (File 609 p9).]

    - File 598: Kusuda Rikimichi (the Organisation's man in the hospital) dies with a shot to his head in the middle of the pursuit. As a hush-hush affair, the police were probably not notified and the FBI probably cleaned up the body themselves. The man is tall and lanky, with a build similar to Akai's. It's not hard to imagine that there was a body switch. Take advantage of the Organization's fondness for explosives (File 609 p6) would help further obscure the body.

    - File 609: Jodie is unable to contact Akai (p7). Conan notices her conversation, and when she asks if he wants to accompany her to the hospital, he tells her that he's changed his mind, using a strangely foreboding, too-childish-to-be-true, and completely irrelevant excuse about it being Friday the 13th. He obviously realises that some part of the plan is going down and knows he should be nowhere near the FBI agents when it happens.

    - File 609: The FBI agents sees of Akai's possible death on the TV (p10). Very fortunately, Akai taking Conan's mobile phone sticks strongly in Jodie's mind, and even more fortunately, she has that very phone with her! When the prints are verified, Vermouth (as the Organization's representative) sees a deeply grieving Jodie and is satisfied that everything went as planned! Good thing she doesn't see a grimly satisfied Conan, huh?

    - File 609: Okay, this moment really confused me at first: Conan pulling out a screwdriver to check the serial number on his phone (p15)?? Why would anyone want to do that after lending out a phone?

Well, thinking about it, it makes complete sense. Conan knew something was happening on Akai's part when Jodie couldn't contact him. Perhaps he even saw the "accident" on the news (but I'm wagering he didn't). The role of the cell phone was planned from the beginning, so the easiest way for him to check whether phase 2 of their plan really happened was to check the serial number on his phone, to determine whether it's been switched (with his old one being used as evidence for the investigation). When he saw that it was a different phone, he realised that Akai's part must have been played, and he tries to find words to comfort Jodie (p16), but is unable to say anything without giving away the whole plan.

Conan's confidence at the end of File 621 is just the cincher.

wow, I didn't notice all those, the only ones I noticed were akai's hands and conan's smile, but yeah now I'm even more convinced that he is still alive but in hiding
