they only based his supposedly death by the fingerprints on conan fone which he mightve had planted a fake one to match a fake akai fingerprint.. i think something along these lines happend. as to haibara's reaction when they met okiya, im thinking its the same trick that was used on the bus-jack incident. we should watch that police incharge instead!lol
so..is akai still alive or not?i havent continue read...
basically i wish he still alive..
Short answer: we don't know.
aww...thanks for replying...
i hope we could get the answer soon...^^
i really wish he still alive..coz he's the one who can match up with conan..
then both of them could bring black organization down...
I'm not surprised that Akai was so willing to die; he probably wants to be with Akemi-san, right? But I still think that it's possible for him to still be alive since he gave up so easily. I do think that Conan accepted it so easily, and his reaction could easily have been one of success. It's possible that the two had planned something like this a lot earlier. He jumped right in, knowing that he was going to die, so it's possible they came up with some trick. Maybe Rena didn't actually shoot him in the head, thinking it would be too cruel and he'd die anyway. So she set up the bomb and he switched the bodies before hiding. Dangerous, but effective. If they'd wiped off the finger prints after Akai touched it, there'd be the prints put on purposely by the dead man, Conan's, and Jodie-sensei's. No one would suspect a thing (except us because we watched it). At least that's what I put in my fanfic...
Okay, I just read this on wikipedia and I thought it would be useful to add to my previous post so...
In volume 58, Akai and Conan plan an elaborate scheme to reinfiltrate Kir in the organization. Gin forces Kir to kill Shūichi near the Reiha falls to prove her loyality to the organization. Shuichi is aware that it is a set-up, but he also realizes that Kir would be killed if he does not come.
The name of the place could be a reference to the Reichenbach falls, where Sherlock Holmes faked his death. Due to this and several significant inconsistencies, Shūichi Akai may not have died.
Before Kir kills Shuuichi, she says to him, "I'm also surprised... that it went so smoothly..."
It is widely held in the Case Closed fandom that a recently introduced character, Subaru Okiya, is actually Shuuichi. Mainly because the character's name is a clever pun on a part of Char Aznable's real name: キャスバル 'KIYASUBARU' (romanized as 'Casval')(Ikeda is the name of his voice actor in the anime, who also plays Char Aznable in Gundam--Okiya showed up in the manga after Akai was already introduced in the anime, so the voice actor was already chosen by then). Also because Conan hands the keys to Shinichi's house, even when he is suspected of being a new black organization member called Bourbon, after Okiya quotes Holmes: "My dear Watson, you as a medical man are continually gaining light as to the tendencies of a child by the study of the parents. Don't you see that the converse is equally valid?"
And the way that Conan is acting almost immediately after Akai 'dies' is suspicious as well. It was like he was setting Jodie up to be worried on purpose to make sure she would be convinced.
Jodie: What will you do, Conan-kun? You said you wanted to go once more to the hospital before we leave it, right? Will you go with us now?
Conan: I was planning to, but I changed my mind... The kids might disturb us! Moreover, today's Friday the 13th... so I guess I'd better go back home and sleep quietly! See ya, Jodie-sensei!
Jodie: Friday... the 13th?
And Akai had said to her earlier that day that he had a bad feeling, which she countered by saying something like 'because today's Friday the 13th? I don't believe in such superstitions!'
It's too suspicious... Ya never know. I think that it's possible that he somehow escaped and that the body that was found was the organization's hospital spy who commited suicide by shooting himself in the head (and Akai was shot in the head) during the time that Rena was still supposedly in a coma
And right after Eisuke confirmed that Conan was Shinichi, another suspicious thing happened.
Eisuke: Oh, right! Have you heard? Something seems to have happened in the FBI...
Eisuke: Well... Judging from the mood, someone seems to have died... But if you haven't heard about it... then it must be alright.
Conan: Yeah... It's alright...
That doesn't make any sense if he didn't know what was going on, and no one told him anything, so he shouldn't know at all and he shouldn't be able to say that it's alright!
I noticed after reading it again, that Ai gets the same feeling from him that she got from Akai when he drove past during the PandA case where we first meet James Black. Based on the way Conan is acting, he knows exactly what's going on, and I know that he wouldn't have put so much trust into Okiya as to give him the key to his house when he is supposed to be dead if he didn't know the man could be trusted. He told Ai, "A Holmes fan can't be a bad person!" but even such a devout Holmes fan as Conan still has common sense! And then right after that, there was:
Conan: Here's the house key!
Okiya: Are you sure it's alright? Shinichi-niichan won't ask me to leave?
Conan: Nah! I'll send him a message later!
Okiya: Thanks! You're a big help!
Conan: In return, take care of the place while he's gone...
Okiya: Yeah... Of course!
But it's still possible for him to be Bourbon like Ai suspected because we know from Rena that Bourbon is 'skilled at inspection and information gathering, and has keen insight' and even if Okiya's and Akai's personalities are different overall, they both fit this description. Okiya also has a lighter hair color, but it's the same style, and he has the same face and body structure, as well as clothing fashion sense... And when Okiya first spoke to Conan, he talked to him like he already knew that Conan was a fan of Sherlock Holmes. And if Bourbon is Okiya and Okiya is Akai, then when Shinichi told Ran to not talk about him to Okiya, it could be explained by the possibility that Bourbon is being monitored and, while checking into Kudou Shinichi's 'death' and telling the organization that Shinichi is, indeed, dead, it would be really bad if they found out that it was a lie.
It all fits together. It seems to me that it's more difficult to say that Akai isn't alive

It's been so quiet here ...
Anyway, with the appearance of the newest deductive genius Sera, the chessboard is now set for the game, I think. Hopefully the Vermouth/Jodie twist will not be brought into play again, and we can safely guess that Sera is the agent Bourbon that Rena warned of, and Okiya is Akai. (Which is itself a bit worrisome, because there has to be a twist there somewhere as everything falls into place just a bit too neatly.)
