you know, the last chapter made me think of another theory, that guywho wants to stay in the prof's house is most likely the new guy from the org, but I think there are a possibilities there:
1. he's evil and is the new guy from the org
2. he's the new guy from the org but also akai in disguise
3. he's akai in disguise
4. totally random guy who was put there to confuse us
my reasoning for no 2 and 3 is conan's eagerness to let him stay and also that smile that they shared at the end. I mean conan's reasoning that "a holmes fan can't be a bad person" seems to be made up for ai's benefit and the fact that he acted like a child infront of that guy but then at the end smiled in an obviously very un-childlike way. Also this would fit in with the theory that akai is still alive and in hiding, he could've undergone surgery to change his face and then go infiltrate the org again, which is why rena said it was a new agent that was sent. I know that in real life plastic surgery takes a while to recover from and can't change that much, but in mangas people have had plastic surgery that not only changes their face it even changes the shape of their head(skull).
i was thinking that it was a new FBI agent, here to inform Conan about Akai. i mean, the mysterious old dude earlier in the series that liked holmes was actually a FBI agent
I just saw the chapter in question, and I'm willing to put my money on it being Akai. After all, the sort of looks they're giving each other are very much like what Conan and Akai shared -- the sheer confidence and the private, unspoken (or rather, spoken with a deeper undercurrent of meaning) understanding. There's too much mutual trust and respect in those looks (they're treating each other as equals, as skilled accomplices they can trust to get their assigned job done) to be exchanged between strangers.
Akai also has a very distinctive, very angular face that's almost triangular, and what hair could be seen under that beanie of his seems quite similar. Plus, Haibara's reaction is about the same as before.
i think he might still alive as it was always his plan with Conan to make thing goes like that...i dont hav any solid evidence and what not...just how i feel, basically...well, i dont want him to died anyway and want the author to reveal soon lol..cant wait for the next chapter of Conan
wow,,, i never think of him as akai who is disguising but... thinking of it... yeah, maybe... it make sense... and i believe that akai wont die that easily, it must be one of he's plan or somethink, thinking of how conan smile...
hmmmm... i was thinking "what's with the smile... there has to be a meaning" and everything that conan do, always end up, out of our prediction...
have to wait for next chapters then....
Heh, with the latest chapters, it is even more likely that Akai has resurfaced as the innocuous Okiya Subaru. Conan obviously trusts him enough to let him live at the Kudo mansion, and request assistance in a case (wasn't that entrapment though?). Okiya also took Ran's kick without flinching, suggesting that he's definitely comfortable with hand-to-hand combat.
More importantly, among all the adults in this series, only Akai has shown the ability to follow Conan's logic and to make insightful deductions that parallel Conan's. Previously, the adult whose deductive capacity was closest to Conan's was Sato, and even she required hints (we're not going to talk about the elder Kudo here). In any case, I very strongly doubt that the story would reveal two separate characters with such capacity within such a short span of time.
Now what I'm most hungrily awaiting is ... when is Okiya going to figure out the Conan-Shinichi mystery?
ah...i also think that akai is still alive...bcoz of Conan's smiles..
so he really alive?
i havent read all the chapters...still on vol 59...
good points.. i'm starting to suspect that it's akai as well, especially since the mangaka wants us to connect okiya with "bourbon". or maybe akai is "bourbon" - he infiltrated the black orgs once again.
Well, I hope he's Bourbon, otherwise Conan will be coming up against a very nasty foe (if Rena's assessment of Bourbon's deductive ability is any indication). And Gin is already very quick on the uptake.
Going back through the chapters again, I realised Conan cleaned out his mansion before meeting Okiya, even (since Conan made the offer when Okiya visits the Professor right after the case). Rack up another point for "Conan-Akai planning".
I'm only wondering now why Conan is so desperate to hide his identity. If there's one person who could only help by knowing, it's Akai. Then again, by this time, Conan seems to be hiding things only for the sake of hiding them ^_^;. And given it is Akai, he'd figure it out in a heartbeat -- which might be just what Conan is afraid of ... which then begs the question, why have him stay at the Kudos, of all places. Surely he can find a place of his own? He's a grown adult, after all. What's so important for him to stay there, such that Conan would go through the painstaking process of removing all traces of Shinichi in that huge mansion?
P.S. And I realised after I posted my previous message that I misspoke about adults who are on par with Conan/Shinichi. The elder Kudo disclaimer needs to have the elder Hattori added as well. The parents in this series are definitely "OP" .... Likewise, the elder Kuroba was probably on par with Kudo Yuusuke, and Kisaki Eri, while not seemingly omniscient like the two dads, is able to hold her own against Conan.
I actually hope Okiya isn't Akai, but that Connan thinks that this may be the case. It would be nice to see the child detective be wrong for once, and lend his dad's warning creedance. Not to say that I think Akai is dead, quite the opposet in fact. I just don't want thoes two to be the same person. It would be interesting if Okiya was the Kito Kid in disguise, checking up on his rival... and perhaps deciding to join forces after already being hired by the orginization to find Shinichi. Now that would be a convaluted plot twist that no one would see coming from a mile away. Well, exept for me and now you all.
