    Default Detective Conan Movies

*SPOILER ALERT* The following includes summaries of all DC movies. Despite the fact that these are just summaries, some people may not want to read it anyways...so you have been WARNED.

Movie #1: The Timed-Bombed Skyscraper (名探偵コナン: 時計じかけの摩天楼)
    Release Year: 1997
Summary: An architect wants revenge on Kudo Shinichi for once intervening with his plan to build a building that he had created. The architect hides bombs in buildings and on bridges that he once designed, in an effort to destroy his past "failed" creations and make way for his "new perfect creation." The architect sends a direct challenge to Shinichi, but his opponent switches to Conan when Conan answers his phone forgetting to use his original voice. In the end, Ran becomes trapped inside a building (where a bomb had been placed) and as Conan rushes to save her...?

Movie #2: The Fourteenth Target (名探偵コナン:14番目の標的)
    Release Year: 1998
Summary: Murakami Jo, a murderer that Mouri Kogoro and Inspector Megure put behind bars 10 years ago, has recently been released. He seems to be looking for revenge, as he has targeted people around Kogoro with poker cards. The spade brings death and those with ‘numbers’ in their names have become targets. Three have been injured...now the responsibility rests on Kogoro and his fellow companions to find who the targets are and stop the killer before time runs out...and who is the Ace of Spade?

Movie #3: The Last Magician of the Century (名探偵コナン: 世紀末の魔術師)
    Release Year: 1999
Summary: Kaito Kid has sent a message to the police, stating his intent to steal the Easter Egg of the Romanvo Dynasty that is currently in the hands of the Suzuki Corporation. As the police and Kogoro try to prevent Kid from successfully completing his plan, a murder causes Conan to suspect that Kid isn’t the only one after the Easter Egg and that perhaps...there are more secrets within the egg itself?

Movie #4: Captured in Her Eyes (名探偵コナン: 瞳の中の暗殺者)
    Release Year: 2000
Summary: Someone has begun targeting police officers. During a party, Satou-keiji is shot and severely injured. Ran was the only eye-witness, but due to traumatic shock, Ran falls unconscious and wakes up with amnesia. Under the reason that her daughter is hurt, Ran’s mother, Eri, returns home to help out. Despite the added protection from the police, the killer finds a way to get close to Ran and attempts to kill her for having seen his face. Conan must now protect Ran and discover the killer’s identity and motive before its too late...

Movie #5: Countdown to Heaven (名探偵コナン: 天国へのカウントダウン)
    Release Year: 2001
Summary: A new set of twin-towers are having its grand opening. The height of the towers makes it seem like they are touching the heavens. Out of no where, a city councilman is murdered and Conan suspects that the Black Organization did it. While attending the opening party for the twin towers, something else goes wrong. The president of the twin towers is killed and the killer is one of the guests. Following the murder, the data room within the tower erupts into flames and all guests are forced to evacuate. As the kids try to escape, they become trapped inside the building, left at the mercy of the bombs counting down until...the end?

Movie #6: The Phantom of Baker Street (名探偵コナン: ベイカー街の亡霊)
    Release Year: 2002
Summary: Kogoro and the kids are invited to a party featuring a new virtual game system. Before the game begins, a man is discovered dead and Conan rushes to investigate. He decides to enter the game to discover the identity and motive of the murderer. When the game loses control and overtaken by someone called “Noah’s Arc”, the lives of the other 49 kids within the game now rest in Conan’s hands. Can he solve the mystery in the game...as well as the outside it?

Movie #7: Crossroad in the Ancient Capital (名探偵コナン: 迷宮の十字路)
    Release Year: 2003
Summary: Genjibotaru was a group of thieves that repeatedly stole precious artifacts from the cities of Kyoto, Osaka and Tokyo and now five of its members are discovered dead. As the police attempt to find the murderer, Conan and the gang assemble in Kyoto to help investigate. Hattori Heiji teams up with Conan to solve the case and simultaneously protect their own lives. In the crossroads* of Kyoto, love, friendship and the truth is revealed!
*I believe the crossroads reference is due to the fact that Kyoto’s streets are relatively straight, with many perpendicular intersections that result in ‘crossroads’.*

Movie #8: Magician of the Silver Sky (名探偵コナン: 銀翼の奇術師)
    Release Year: 2004
Summary: Kaito Kid has made another appearance, this time, he is after a famous actress’ “Jewel of Fate” ring. Kogoro’s deductions, as usual, are way off, so Conan ends up facing off with Kaito Kid alone. Later, the group boards a plane as a thank-you gift from the actress. However, during the flight the actress is murdered and both the pilot and co-pilot have been poisoned. With no one to land the plane and no gas to continue flying, Conan teams up with his nemesis, Kaito Kid, to bring everyone to safety. How does everyone make it to safety?

Movie #9: Strategy Above the Depths (名探偵コナン: 水平線上の陰謀)
    Release Year: 2005
Summary: Conan, Kogoro, Ran and the kids enjoy a luxurious cruise trip, courtesy of Ran’s friend, Sonoko. While aboard the ship, a twisted plot of murder is committed. This time, Kogoro follows his intuitions and beats Conan to the truth. However, when the murderer is exposed...something even more disastrous and threatening becomes apparent--can Conan save everyone from this horrifying nightmare?

Movie #10: The Private Eyes’ Requiem (名探偵コナン: 探偵たちの鎮魂歌(レクイエム))
    Release Year: 2006
Summary: An unknown man invites Conan, his friends, Kogoro and Ran to Yokohama. He sends the others to an amusement park, with their free passes being the wristband that contains an explosive. While the others are at the amusement park, the man explains to Kogoro and Conan (whom he later calls Shinichi) what they must do for him. Their mission is to solve a case with the clues they are given before the explosive goes off. During this time, Conan meets up with Heiji (Heiji's friend, Kazuha, had been taken hostage in the same way) as well as Hakuba (a detective hunting after Kaito Kid). Will the four detectives solve the case in time to save their friends?

Movie #11: Jolly Roger in the Deep Azure (名探偵コナン: 紺碧の棺 (ジョリー・ロジャー))
Release Year: 2007 (scheduled release in April)
Summary: There is an old legend about the Isle of Koumi, an island in the Pacific. The legend tells of an ancient ruin at the bottom of the sea, where the treasures of two pirates, Anne Bonnie and Mary Reed, lie. Conan and his friends visit this island on vacation, and discover something suspicious...and perhaps, dangerous...

the live action? actually, i didn't quite like it. they say oguri shun is 'cool', but i dunno about that...and i thought the case was lame (way too easy to see through) and some of the acting wasn't quite as good...not in the sense that the actor/actresses are bad, just that the plot wasn't all that well based. but that could just be me.

Personally, I would suggest #6, #3 or #8. I actually love them all, so in terms of what would you like suggestions? (ie. plotline-the mystery case, or character appearances?) If you have the time, I'd suggest you watch them all! xD
