agreed. And he didn't even have a backup plan when his plan failed. Where did that meticulous Light, who used 3 different ways to determine if someone entered his room, go?

Precisely. Ohba dumbed Light down in the second arc, and that is my big problem with Death Note after L's death. Rather than the brilliant battle of wits from the first arc, the second was basically an exercise in editorial tampering.

It did seem pretty predicatable. If they make more episodes, do you think he will come back to life.

Obviously at first it was easy for him, there wasnt any pressure in the background and it was just him and Ryuk. Now he's around people 24/7 because he's in too deep to pull back. + with more power comes more responsibility so he couldnt really handel things the way he could before. The mistake was there all along and L obviously knew something like what happened would happen. Near drawing to the conclusion that Kira is Light etc.

The whole series was basically just a super advanced game of simon says with L as teh simon guy, Kira makes one mistake = loses. The mistake was basically after L died he didnt believe he could be caught as in his opinion he bettered L. But it was perhaps because that L "planned" to put Light in the position of L in the wide open where he can be constantly seen although he can do more damage is more likly to make mistakes...which in the end he did. So you might as well just call it an overall draw, especially seeing as Kira hid infront of everyone for that long.

I know, I just watched that episode and the moment he said that, well...face-palm. Know what I mean? (I haven't finished the manga yet, so I'm not sure how close the ending were, but I know that the final showdown was hard to watch, like a car crash, I just couldn't look away.)

But yeah, at the end there, I think Light was getting sloppy. Whether it was from too much to handle (being L now and all), having other people involved, or if he just bought into his own hype(he had followers worshiping him and all), who knows why he was so obvious, there at the end. I mean, maybe if he hadn't stuck his foot in his mouth he would have been able to talk his way out of it or something. I had remembered him being brilliant like that.

Don't agree. Would have been kinda unsatisfying.

Totally agree on the continuing Light vs L battle. Near and Mellow were......boring. On the other hand I really liked how Light became overconfident after killing L. The power just rose to his head and made him take unnessesairy steps which made him so obvious.

That's why I only liked the anime upto ep25 because the Near and Mello arc sucked big time!!!!Near was just too smart and it seemed like Mello had a the perfect resources to do whatever he wants....
