Default Banish all evil, is it really ok?

According to Light's judgment, all evil and despicable people should be destroyed. Evil can produce more evil... and the weak people can learn from them. To clean the world, evil should banish.

Do you agree with Light's understanding? why?

*just trying to know people's way of thinking..*

I believe that kira was right, in a screwed up kinda way.
By instilling fear into people (we do evil, we will be killed etc etc) then he is cutting crime at its root.
but then as 1evo_ryu said, he became a monster trying to root out others.
but if the deathnote we to occur for real (not saying it will, nor do i believe it will ever) i would be on "kira"'s side.
L is good and all justice and all, but he cannot cut crime, he simply provides loops for crimminals to upheave the system and run amok.
Fear is a human "dont go there, dont do that" sorta thing
its like your parents telling you to please be quiet, and you'll try to make that igsignificant noise, just once, to prove you can.
Humans will do that, like shoplifters avoiding cameras,
they'll look like royal morons just to prove they can cheat the cameras and get away scot-free.
but if they feared it so much it discouraged them entirely, no sounds, no camera-avoiding. nothing.
fear would be the justice in itself, or so i believe
    -Deathnote-
Not just any egomaniac with a god-complex
trying to challenge the god of metabolism and candy
    now is it?

Light went too far I say. Theres no such thing as "evil" or "despicable" people, It's how society as a whole choses to view and percieve things to be. Crimes themselves go into far greater depth than the crime commited itself. Crimes of passion are done out of love or anger with the "murderer" regretting his/her actions in the end and may be judged lightly. But premeditated stuff usually doesn't get judge lightly but there is always a motive behind it and reasons to why they did the killing. I believe the ones that light should of actually judged are the people who killed for the fun of it. Like that american kid and his dad who traveled around america with a sniper rifle killing random people.

So tsubasaneko wants to get rid of evil in this world... But I think there are no good or evil person since every person is good and evil somehow. No matter how good a person appears, there's always a negative side behind him, or vice versa.

If Light really wants to get rid of evil, then why didn't he even thought he was also evil in a way and kill himself? I think he's qualified to be killed following his law. Thinking of himself as a God rather than a criminal is really a crazy person's way of thinking. He really just wanted to rule and run the world according to his law. A selfish madman, that's what he is.

I was really disappointed when L/Ryuuzaki was killed by Light's incredible plan.

True Krizomet, Raito (light) is a selfish madman,
In the beginning i hated raito, (btw, Raito=Light, just to end confusion Raito-jap, Light-eng)
but as it went on, his selfishness and god-comlex intruiged me, since by his law he is more the eligible to be killed by 'kira' and then also, he is excluded from it too.
because he is seeking justice, malicious i'll admit, but as the 1st movie (which actually reminisced this well) showed that raito had lost faith in justice, meeting the madman in the bar who was priding himself on getting away with murder, he threw away the justice book and unlike the manga, the Ryuuku's stolen deathnote fell fromt he sky, as if pre-conscieved notions wanted him to posess it, even thoguht ryuuku denies this.
Raito lost faith that justice would really come through and win over 'impure peoples thoughts'
and as iidx_your_cat forementioned, there is a light and dark side to everyone, but some people dont have a quo of it, such to say they dont equal it out, anyone can say "i hate ___" but then to act upon it and cause harm, that is wrong, but then to see someone who deserves good things, like a thankyou when they open a door for you, but doesnt.
its a extreme difference, but its there, the good and the bad.
what raito was doing, was ridding the world and restoring the quo so to speak.
btw everyone, i aint starting an argument, i might sound harsh, but its not my intention at all to offend, i like expressing my ideas, and hearing everyone elses, this is fun

i find this arguement similar to trigun's with vash's and rem's argument with his brother knives. if you try to kill the spiders to save the butter flies pretty soon you become a spider.
another way to look at it is that you cannot truly banish evil, because it is a part of humanity. as teal'c said "without darkness how can one know what is light?"

in a sense, i think Kira made sense. He just did it in the wrong way. :P

if i had a deathnote, i would probably write in the names of the most sadistic, brutal serial killers because i think there are crimes that are...too hideous to be forgiven. Let justice be served.
