Thread: L's nationality? (*SPOILER?*)

Read most of the manga but something has got to me....

Mello and Matt are OBVIOUSLY English/american but wtf are Near and L? Near looks german/russian and L looks freaking japanese O_o;;;; It's very odd considering that they are both orphans...but they could at least hint what nationality they are; heck they could be japanese english speaking persons!

L is rumored to be Japanese/British.
He won some british tournament remember?

Well the author of Death Note holds the opinion that he's not 100&#37; Japanese but British, Russian, perhaps French or Italian thats where I read some where. I dont really know about Near, though.

I have no idea, but I wold love to know because i have been wondering that myself.

Near is pretty clearly American, given his name.

L is probably British.

Seriously, L must be British. Near probably is American, and Mello could be Russian or something along those lines.

Not quite.
He wont a european tennis tournament because he lived in the whammy house for those four years or so. The whammy house is in england.
