Thread: Does Anyone know Light's or Misa's lifespans?

well, it's been bothering me for quite a while for some reason. I really wanted to know Light's lifespan... >_<
anybody have a clue?

I don't know if Light's was known but I know someone (cooler) did some math and figured out Misa's lifespan. You might have to look around to find it.

We don't know his lifespan, because he died at the hands of Ryuk and his Death Note, before his natural time was up. Misa's lifespan was altered by shinigamis twice. I derived what her lifespan might have been, but I'm going to have to do it again...I think I was wrong the first time.

Misa's lifespan was either however old she was when she died, or unknown.

Light's is the same - it could I guess be when he died, if by some freak twist of fate that was actually exactly when his number was up

I've asked myself how that lifespan thing works.
I intended to make a thread about it, but it fits in here (thx TS).

In the anime, when Ryuuk tells Raito about the eyes of the death God, he tells him he could see his remaining time with it (ep 3).
It shows his view with Raito and his time.

In episode 12 or 13, when Rem tells Raito he'd see Misas remaining time and would kill Raito, if he'd do something to her, it shows their time also.

In the anime both times Raitos number is exactly the same.

I'm not sure about the manga though.
I only remember that it also showed Raitos time at the beginning.
But I don't remember if it did later with Rem.
And since I don't know the exact chapter and I'm lazy, I didn't check.

But I guess it is shown both times just like in the anime and both times the number is exactly the same.

How does that work?
So I wondered if anyone knew something about it.

I don't think the manga actually showed any numbers...

The next time I read the manga I'll check if nobody knows for sure.
I'm pretty certain that it showed Raito's "time" at least once, when the manga introduced the eyes deal

The numbers over Light's head are:

9 3 31 2 6 3 9

He died on Jan 28 2010

Let us assume Death Day is based on the Birthday -
Light is 2-28-1986 as said in the How To Read 13 Volume.

Start with the second number on the left, then go to the first number, jump over to the last number and then to the little number on the right to the number in the middle. Look we've included a number of every size excluding the number in the middle. That's the special number.

So we've got 3-9-9-6.

Take that number and subtract the birth year.

Now we've got the death year! - 2010

Next, take the number on the left of 2, 31, and subtract the number to it's left.

Now we've got the death day.

The 28th.

The month now. Take the number in the middle and subtract 1.

1-28-2001!

I know it seems arbitrary but can you figure out a better way to make it work?

I wonder how Ryuk knew their ages if he hd to discern a number system like this one, or Misa for that matter...
