Thread: Unimpressed with ending : and why.

Long before the ending, or at the time where Near asked to meet with Light face to face, he could have simply announced himself to the world, and told his followers to go to the warehouse with him and kill them all, or simply capture them.

Or .. he could have simply announced himself to the world, and just ignored the 8 people in the world trying to capture him. What would they have done if he did that? They could do nothing.

proposal for new ending:

Light should have first : folded the piece of paper in his watch to give him more space.

He should have ALSO put a small piece of lead in there.

he should have planned for his capture, even though he was sure hed win in this sense.

Had he been taken to a prison, depending on whether Ryuuku declared if the rules were fake (which he wouldnt have if he knew Light still had a chance), Light would then pop out the paper, and lead (while in the cell) and write

"Near will bring me the notebooks, unlock my cell, and die of heartattack"

End Game: Light wins.

i simply hate the ending cause the ones who stop Light in the end was Near and Mello. i hate those two. i like L a lot more than them, and i think L should have been the one to put a stop to Kira's killings, given that he was originally the one to challenge Light in the first place.

I liked the ending all right, I think Light should have died. I just thought it sucked how mello died, it was really sudden and not very well done.

As my friend Amanda said, they shouldn't have killed off L to begin with--but if the author really had to at that point, then that's where the series should've ended.

And Doctor Who, I agree that Light should've been done in for his crimes. It would've been much better if the preceding 50+ chapters weren't shitty, though.

I like the ending too,Light deserved the humiliation,but maybe the kira is god could be a better ending.
Mello was my favorite character after L and i was really upset when he died,he was the trigger to Nears plan to catch kira.

Honestly I liked the start of the near and mello arc a lot, until when the zelots attack nears HQ I thought it was fantastic. But V10,11,12 were just black holes of boring.

I don't understand why you guys hate the ending... When Kira declare himself as a GOD, that moment, I knew he is going to be defeated in the end. Kira is not a "genius" just like what other people are saying, he is more of an "idiot"... a loser.

If he is a Genius person then he should have known from the start that he cannot change the world the way he envisioned it. No one can, it's already told in the manga, once he killed every criminals in the world who he will target next? A mother who scolded his son for not attending school? or the son who is scolded by his mother because of not attending school? He cannot stop killing and I bet he will kill both.

By the way, back to the topic, I love the ending? And I want to say to Kira.... "That is what you deserved!"

I loved the ending. In fact, I loved the entire Mello and Near arc.
I think most folks who read the manga as it was coming out were bored with part two due to pacing issues, but those who read the tankôbon releases usually don't have a problem with it (at least, from my experience and what others say).

Also, I think the ending itself was done very well. No one was out of character (despite what others may say). Light would never have Mikami memorize the names and write them down later, because he wanted to watch Near die. He also loves to gloat, hence the "Near, I've won" line. He did the same thing to Raye Penber, Naomi Misora and to L himself (with his big ass grin).

And why does everyone and their mother have a problem with Mikami calling Light trash? Isn't it obvious that Mikami figured out that Light was no God after all? He realized he was just a normal guy who was using him. Light even claims to never have seen Mikami before, i.e. Mikami realized he was expendable.
