well, kira's now god of the new world...YAY
all would be good, but the anime decided to plunge into the darkness known as the stupid brats arc...
let us mourn for the inevitable crappy ending.

One thing for sure - anime is sticking to manga's plot, which is a good thing but will result with this ending...
The ending was great, what do you mean?

I didn't like it - the way Near defeated Kira, it was something paranormal. I didn't mind the act Light showned - he was a psycho-killer who thought too highly of himself. I was disappointed in the way he was defeated (rewrite whole death note ? come on...like anyone is able to do that without mistake in hurry)
The ending was good in a way, but definitely it could have been written better!!! I don't mind Light losing to Near & Mello at all, but the way it's done is stupid. The whole "I know what you are doing so I will do this" crap was sooo boring!!! >_<
Hopefully the anime will handle it better.

for once i hope that the anime would deviate from manga such that the ending would be better![]()
Today, I got lost on the road of life.
The anime needs to deviate from the source material. I think it will, though...after all, we only have 11 episodes left.
The original ending sucked.

I'm all for a deviation from the manga, so long as Near still comes out on top. Near is only able to be so on top of what Light is doing due to the original L's investigation, his own cunning and intuition, and Mikami's screw up towards the end of the manga.
Just saw the 26th episode.
[SPOILER ALERT]
The first half was a recap up through L's death. The second half stuck to the manga as far as setting Light up as the new L. There were a few differences, though, and some were quite cool. Like a scene which shows Light on the roof of L's building telling Ryuk that he'll see the dawn of a new era or something. He then starts writing in the DN, and we see the Yotsuba group people dying. We are also shown Aiber's death, a heart attack, which is different from his death of Cancer in the manga. Wedy's death isn't shown, though. One other minor difference is that Light tells Misa that he wants to live with her in a restaurant, instead of while walking outside. The ep closes with a narration on how the world is changing due to Kira, and the director of Whammy's house telling Near and Mello that L is dead.
Finally, the Near arc begins!!!

the thing i don't like about near is that 1. he just guessed everything right based on the fact that the previous L (may he rest in peace) thought light was Kira, and 2. Near 'won' and got a confession from Light because light was going through a stupid phase. the ending stuck with the good beats bad theme, undermined the most intelligent character in the show, and gave victory to L's annoying wannabe.
i honestly would be satisfied if the anime decided to end right now, with Kira owning all.
Wedy's death was shown. She crashed.
Hopefully Light will come out on top in this version. Near won in the manga, L in the movies...maybe Light can win in the anime. We can dream.
