Thread: question about rem (Spoilers)

Im confused about Why rem dies. i mean i know how a shinagami can die. But its just confusing. Rem tries to kill watari and L. she Succeeds in killing watari. but fails to kill L because he wrote his name in A death note already. but Watari wouldnt have killed misa,so the only person that really could've was L. But he didnt die, Thus she didnt save her. confusing i think..

Ahm, in the manga Rem kills L too.
He dies because they think Misa is the second Kira. Sooner or later they would get proof and she'd be sentenced to death. An because of that they threaten her life. So Rem dies when he kills them.

In the movie L is only pretending to be dead as far as I know. But I haven't seen part 2 yet so I can't explain that in detail.

Yeah, the movie is different to the manga. In the manga, L dies. He's not pretending.

I guess in the movie, yeah, I see your point. I guess they didn't think about that when they changed it. Well, killing Watari probably would have helped Misa as well, so there you go.

The best explaination that I have for Rem dying in the movie as well was because if she only kill L then Watari will still have the power to control the situation and Misa will be sentenced so she has to kill both L and Watari. L did not die by the hands of Rem was because he already wrote his own name in the real Death Note so he can't die until the said date that he wrote.

The manga L didn't have this plan so he died at the hands of Rem, this is also true in the anime
