Thread: Mello's Intelligence

Mello I think is equal to Intelligence to Near. Near is more calm , and Mello is more rash. What are your thoughts?

You are an idiot. There is not need to make so many freaking threads! If I remember correctly there is already one about who is the smartest. This belonged in there more than it belonged in it's own thread. So please for your sake and the sake of the rest of the Death Note section:

Anyways, in terms of intelligence, I would rank the protagonists like this:

Light
L
Mikami
Near
Mello

Mikami and Near are pretty interchangeable.

Mello is definitely the least intelligent, by a wide margin.

Mello got himself killed. He wasn't smart enough to prevent himself from becoming Near's pawn to be sacrificed. Near for god's sake!!! He caused a lot of hell with his violent hostage taking and whatnot, but in the end, his actions reflect an understanding only slightly higher that Yagami jinchou(Light's dad) but not smart enough to really progress in the Kira investigation.
I would pretty much go with cooler's heirarchy but put Mikami under Mello (Mikami was just a careful follower, which really reflects no special intelligence).

I agree with cooler, except that I would put L above Light.

Rearding Mello, he's nothing special, really. Anyone with half a brain could fill in his role. Hell, even I would do better than he did, were I in his position.

i actually see near's explanation (no matter how annoying i find near himself to be) that he and mello were equal, and if they worked together they would have been equal to L.
I've always held the idea that mello was rash, swift and smart as a fox, while near was slow, but strategic, coy like a tiger. (yes, its funny animal euphermisms day)
but as mello was not a 2-steps-ahead thinker, he got himself used and killed, while with Near they'd have been a force to be reckoned with, because together they could have put mello's swift ideas and shoot now think later (literally) attitude into nears sharp plans, where working together they could have caught kira so much quicker, but they're ego's and competitiveness won over them, and near took the checkmate, so to speak.
