What do you think of Light's statement in chapter 75?

"If we catch Kira, then he is evil. If Kira controls the world, then he is righteous."

I think that's really true, if the police managed to catch Kira, he would then be punished for mass murdering , and his way of thinking (that he was making the world a better place by ridding it of criminals etc) would be the one which is wrong. on the other hand if, say after 10years the police still haven't caught Kira, Kira gains more and more support, more and more power (by killing those who are against him and getting support from all the countries - he already had the acknowledgement from the US by chp75), children are brought up believing that Kira was righteous or the messiah etc, Kira is really in control of the world and has total power, his ideas and believes would be right.

i dont know if any of you feel the same, ive seen some posts saying that kira isnt evil and some that supports what he was doing even though in the end Kira was caught (and in the end of the manga you can still see people worshiping kira)...

anyway, so what do you think of that statement? (or if you want, you can discuss that chapter cos what Matsuda said was quite interesting too)

It's for people to decide what's evil and what's good - that's how the world works. If Hitler won the war, extermination of the Jewish people could be seen as something good.. (and try to defy present ruler of the world)

Well, sorry 2say that but I seriously think that Kira is becoming more EVIL as the story goes on... I actually like him in the beginning but now I'm not very sure...so in my opinion, he's evil no matter they catch him or not.

Evil = selfishness and greed, presumed all knowing.

If any of you have read Paradise lost, Light is simply the modern incarnation of Milton's Lucifer. He seduces you into believing he is right, that the forces are against him, etc, etc.

If he controls the world all he is is a tyrant - not righteous.

History is written by the victors.

Thus, if Light had won, he would indeed have been righteous in the eyes of history.
