Default What's your attitude to killing evil people?

That's a simple but basic question.

Would this world be a better place if the goverments judge every criminals that commited serious crimes and semi serious crimes to death?

I mean of cause, it would. Because no one will try to be criminal. Of cause spontanious crimes would never end but the mayority of the crimes in the world would vanish.

So why don't we humans do it this way?

Is it because we all have a dark side and we see ourself in the situation of the criminal? Or is there realy a unwritten ethnic law, that tells good people aren't allowed to kill evil people, because they become evil themself by doing that?

My opinion is: Someone who doesn't value life, has no right to call his live valuable as well.
For example: a murder, someone who tortures animals, someone who rapes women, and so on.

Why should the society care about their wellfare, and pay tax to finance their prisons, if a single bullet or (more human) a injection could solve this problem?

See i'm from germany and the crime rate here raises every day, and our law is a matter to laught about. Even murders get away with 5-15 years. Not to speak of the "lesser crimes" like raping or torturing. Mostly they get away with much less. And if you're under 21 years, the last thing you need to fear is the jugdement. I know the law in america is a little harder, but do you think its hard enoth? I think i dont need to mention the crime rate, and the facileness to get weapons.
So please forgive me if i have a little rude attitude towards criminals, but i think if this weak justice goes on, the society realy will become rotten.

    Well whats your opinion?

    Attitude?
Wouldn't "opinion" or even "view" be better words?

So this is essentially a capital punishment argument?

I'm in favor of capital punishment for rapists and child abusers, along with serial killers and murderers who kill in cold blood. That's basically it.

I would write down the name of child rapists in my death book and make them die from drowning and being impaled at the same time.

Life is a pyramid scheme, somebody needs to be at the bottom. Crime will never stop and certainly not while people are brought up to be consumers only to find they can't afford the things they "need".

If you want to kill 'evil' people you need to kill everyone.

Death sentences should be given to people who deserves them. too bad you can't actually give it to any public official who deserves it.

Define "serious crime" and "semiserious crime".

Unless they think that they can get away with it, of course.

The fact that most crime is caused by social factors seems to elude you. Do you think that harsher punishments will act as an deterrent, if e.g. someone steals because he's starving?

We did it a couple of hundred years ago. Unsurprisingly, crime didn't stop.

Because killing people in the name of justice is widely regarded as an barbaric practise in most modern societies.

    Why not?

Generally, it is more expensive to execute an criminal than to lock him up for life. Sounds funky, but it's true. Thus, society saves resources by sentencing people to life imprisonment.

See, this is one of the things that I don't get. Using Finland and America as examples, Finland has less violent crimes than America does. Generally America also has considerably harsher laws than Finland (varies from state to state).

Why then do people think that harsher laws automatically mean less crime?
I mean, seriously people, the empirical evidence has spoken.

I totally understand what you're saying, and personally I am 100% for the death penalty. However, killing people immediately will NEVER work in today's system.

That's because many would argue how a death penalty is the easy way out.

It is more torturous to give people a life sentence in prison. It makes them regret more for their wrong doings.
