It was absolutely amazing. The animation was so good and the effects were off the hook. The music they chose also fitted the different scenes in the episode and they added to the dramatic effect of each. The anime was a bit on the dark side but it fitted it perfectly. And their sticking to the dialogue in the manga is what makes it even better.

The only problem I have with it is that I sometimes hear Tamaki instead of Light and the picture of Light when they were mentioning the sponsors at the start of the episode kind of bothers me. But those are just minor things that can be shrugged off.

Anyway, on the anime, so far so great. I recently saw the second ep, and I was loving the 'Lind L. Tailor' sequence at the end which L used to uncover some things about Light/Kira. So far, Light and Ryuk have been dead on, what I would expect from anime interpretations of those characters. I have high hopes for how they do L; can't wait to see him in full action. What im finding interesting to note is that it appears that the first 3 eps are going to more or less cover the first volume. Since there are 12 volumes of the DN manga, and I think there are going to be like 36 episodes, it appears as though every 3 episodes are going to cover a volume of the manga, which sounds good. Seeing how they've done the first 3 eps pretty faithful to the manga with no huge cuts or alterations to the story, it bodes well for the rest of the anime. And as for the end, even though I liked it I can see why some people would want it altered. If it is, then so be it. The anime should be at least a little different than the manga. Just don't dare cut out Mello, or more importantly, Near.

I love the dramatization od the writing. He is killing ppl, not just writing names, and this helps to show that.

After reading the manga, anime is rather boring I have to say. No suspense. And L's voice sucks. I can deal with Kira, well sort of...but yeah too much Tamaki (Kyouya would have been better ^_^), but L's supposed to be the anti-social hermit type and they gave him a bishi-shounen voice to match with Kira. The producers must seriously be all female or something wanting the whole Kira x L thingy. At least Ryuk is perfect both in voice and animation. Hopefully, they will redo the ending. I can wish for that.

OK, I have seen the first two episodes, but I have NOT read the manga yet, so my judgment of this show is based on how good the show is, and not how closely it follows the manga. (I think people who already read the manga might be a bit bias, sometimes against the show if it doesn't follow it well, and sometimes in favour of it)

So far, I am absolutely hooked to this show. From what you guys say, there's a lot of talking, but this is not in the least bit boring. It's very gripping, and I think this kind of a story is much more gripping than some of the "action packed" anime where there are fights every episode.

It was boring for like, 10 minutes, but became really awesome really quickly. This series has already made a fan of me.

the slightly accelerated pace compared to the manga alows me to cling on to the faint hope that they aren't going to stick to the origional ending. Oh god I hope they change the ending.
