    Default *Spoiler* Death Note End

Just wanted to see how other people felt about Light in the end...I know alot of people are angry and then some are actually happy about the way that it ended. Personally, I liked Light. That is, before he started believing his own hype and started actually considering himself a 'god'. To me, that's when I think Light started losing his battle of wits. I thought the ending was actually justifiable, here we have a guy whose killed thousands, some guilty and some innocent, all because of his own selfish ideals. No matter what, he WAS a mortal. Power that is given can be taken away. His arrogance and ego got the best of him in the end and he made far too many careless mistakes. I think it was fitting for him to meet his fate at the hands of a 'true' shinigami, 'god of death'. So what do you think?

    Change your title, for starters.

Anyways...Light's death at the end? Light dying is okay. The chapters leading up to his death sucked, however, and the fact that he didn't become a shinigami, despite the setup, was idiotic.

Basically, DN's ending was the product of editorial tampering to ensure that the ending is "morally acceptable", since it was a Jump manga.

i may be coming off as a jerk to you, but you could have potentially spoiled the ending for a lot of people. who would have been the jerk in that case?

i think somebody should delete this thread...

Yeah...he kinda started going off the good path when he killed the FBI agents. I think the actual scene where he died was pretty cool though, since thats how someone with a superiority complex probably would react. I don't know how bad the lead up was though, I stopped reading at about chapter 57 and then skipped to the end.
    100% super crazy awesome!

Skipping chapters 61-108 is advisable, actually.
