I knew light was going to die but who was tht girl on the last page. For a moment I thought it was Misa.
I loved the ending and how it showed the Death Note slowly took over Raito and he became consumed by it. Eventually Raito kinda became the criminals he punished himself. I like how in the end there still were followers of Kira leaving the message that Raito actually did impact the society even by a little even though it wasn't successful. I also liked how Ryuk was the guy who ended up killing Raito.
However, i wanted the ending to be different. One was that that first L wasn't actually L. The real L was just an observer watching what was going on with Ryuuzaki L, Raito, Near, and Mello. I was hoping at the end, the real L would reveal himself and catch Raito.
Another ending i wanted was just that I wanted Raito to win...I wanted the evil to win...over the good. Just because that doesn't happen often.
Sig was too big.
the ending was actually very obvious in a paradoxical way light ended up corrupting him self and cornering his own demise by making irrational moves too early, the whole story was actually based off tratedgy and such so it was predictable, i wish light would have won though cause i don't agree that he coulda been defeated that easily, straight bull shit.
Being caught up in his own God complex, he completely underestimated Near...I thought that was dissapointing. He really should have killed those annoying members on his team way earlier, like Aizwa and Mogi....traitors
I was thinking...okay, so they don't trust him, that's fine, but he is the BOSS, he can get rid of people who don't trust him GEEZ
I thought Light was going to take over the world, and that Ryuk would write his name down just for entertainment.
Contrary to what I expected.... Light's death was.... pathetic...
well ceartenly it was a little bit obvius, but well considering the complexity that it took to actually produce a manga with this cuality.
It was a very good manga, well if light had won I think that Ryuk would have killed him latter on, just to snacht his glory and have a good laugh.
please ignore my lack in caligraphy.
i was expecting raito(light) to die because he prepresent bad and bad cannot win against good...but the whole ending was a seriously messed up one....light was way smarter than that...i could have imagine a bunch of way to finish near off even if mikami messed up the plan. it feel as if the mangaka rush raito to his death early since she might not be able to think up another skillful way to end raito life. i think i heard someone said the mangaka stated in an interview that she hate raito.
though, deathnote is a manga with unexpected twists and the high tide of wit so the ending could not be an easy one...but i was expect raito to escape that battle with near but fail to kill because near never reveal his real face and use mikami as a sacrify. he then lost the trust of the team but somehow was able to connect with the fan of kira and use them to fight against near by reveal info about near and blame near for the dead of the representative of kira. near on the other hand try yet another attempt to capture raito. and in the end, raito was able to eliminate near but as he is in his highest climax, he died because near wrote his name in the deathnote before he die.
For those who think that Near isn't a spoiled little child prodigy wannabe, try on this scenario:
Near: I want a dozen or so finger puppets, each uniquely fashioned to abstractly resemble all the people involved in the Kira investigation, JUST so I can make stupid symbollic chess-game-esque imagery!
SPK: Uh, but doesn't that seem a little excessi-
Near: I'M NEAR AND I GET WHAT I WANT!!!
Oh, and in the Epilogue, he was shown surrounded by like a hundred different action figures. I remember one time for Christmas I got a dollar. Faggot.

i honestly thought for once after reading this manga that at last i would see a series where the supposed "bad guy" (ala light) comes out on top as king. in my opinion such an ending would have been much more satisfying heh, but i suppose in the end the author decided maybe not.
throughout the series it was always fun to silently support light as he outwitted everyone around him and played them for fools.
