what's the nationality of L?
Just curious....i dont recall mention in the manga any hint of his nationality nor that he's japanese...
he was born in praga but got adopted by some weirdos from rwanda, then lived 10 years in thai until he got deported to nepal... the rest is story
nope, I don't think there is a way to know that... perharps he's japanese?? the author is japanese and so she made the brightest guys over the face of earth japanese too (we'd have a clue if that damn REM had written L's name clearly)
we dun even know his name.. how the hell are we gonna know his nationality XD
No Dekkai you've got it all wrong. His maternal grandparents were born in a tiny island off the coast of Northern Iceland, then emigrated to Long Island, NY where L's mother was born.

L's parents met by chance on the internet, in a flame war in the Gantz forum regarding the true nationality of Kei Kurono. It was love at first flame. They hooked up in Horsefly, B.C. (also in Canada, btw), which was incidentally where they first made love. But alas, God wasn't going to make it that easy for them.
It would appear that L's mother had a faulty uterus lining, making implantation of the egg impossible. Yes, L was a test tube baby, conceived somewhere in the state of New Jersey with his father's sperm and the egg from Sayu Yagami. Yes, Light's sister was L's biological mother, which explains the reason why L felt a certain rapport with Light. And thus, L is born into this world to meet his destiny: the final showdown between he and his "brother", Light! Read the manga for more details.
Okay, this may seem chronologically impossible, but it's all true I say! I've got sources! See! See!!!! Oh wait you don't see??
Anywho, I'm pretty dang sure L's.............................Russian. 'Cuz everyone's Russian. No actually he's Japanese. But you don't have to believe me.
oh, rite, ma bad xD
come to think of it, we saw the name of Mello and Near, and I don't have a clue where they could be from O_o so, unless L's name was something like "miyamoto" or "saotome" or "yamada" or something, we couldn't be sure just for his name
Well, we'll just assume that he's Japanese, as everyone else in the story is.
Besides, aren't Mello and Near nicknames or something? I'm pretty sure they're not their real names, but correct me if I'm wrong.
yeah...mello and near are nickname
watari and his brother are the one that set up the orphanage........L is (maybe) the first "graduate"
I always got the impression he was either british or american, based on his butler-type guy and the fact that his organization has a western feel to it. His personal ethnicity, though, we'll never discover.
Uryuu freaky, pale and geeky,
how do your powers grow?
