Yeah, so maybe those of us who don't know/care about the hub act accordingly in this thread, but that's what we do with every other as well. Someone posts an article one of us finds stupid, that person will let the rest know. I don't see the problem here.
Well, yea... I'm rude too to a person who posts somewhere inappropriately. And... er.. that thread isn't gonna get bounced anytime soon to the proper place mostly cause the great Tech Section doesn't wanna be tarnished with that crap...

But you guys were being rude to a person who posted properly. Where else would we have placed this hub discussion? =/

Meh... fuck it... most people who posted don't have an idea of where the hub is anyway so I guess its reasonable to act in this manner...

Umm... when I said not to toss that thread, I said so because the thread already has flaming in it, the guy has probably wandered off in shame anyway, and on top of it all, I'm pretty sure that question has been answered already in TS. If you were to toss it, my answer to that probably just would have been "please use the search function." and lock it. So what I meant was 'Just outright delete it'. I wasn't trying to say that the question was too lame to be answered in Tech Support. We have gotten and answered much more noob questions there, without a problem. :P

That said, I followed the important parts of that first post, and I must say that was epic.

Wish I could remember my login and password for the hub.
Ah well, I ain't got shit to share anymore anyway. XD
    Vol~

    thanks to Silverwmoon!

I only have 10Gb of personal files in my PC, and I'm quite sure only 5 would be of interest. :P

Do the 5 have anything to do with your current sig, perchance?

^Yes, that's one of the things in my computer that may be of interest for some. Anyway, I tried using DC++ once, and it wasn't precisely effective for me. My Internet connection is quite slow.

I prefer downloading anime and whatnot through BT, it's got faster speeds. Manga...#lurk. I'm only on DC++ because I was really bored today.

Chatzilla makes it so easy to get on the hub, but I found the hub to be quite boring to be honest. But I visited like 6 months ago...

Anyways, I don't see why this thread is getting so much support. As much as we say that the guy just trying to create some conversation here about the IRC channel, we know there is already a thread for the Holysentinel addicts ("Best of #HS" ring a bell?) and also that this cloud fellow didn't start a thread off right. Just because #HS is deemed awesome by a lot of people doesn't exempt people from standard conventions of threadmaking.

And I hate all this comparison to the CYM and DCL threads, since CYM actually has a purpose (hence the title), even though the purpose is vague enough to lead conversations everywhere. And even DCL goes under the pretense of having a purpose. But the way this thread was started, the best people can do is infer that it has some purpose.

Well, look at it this way:
The hub is mostly for downloading manga, right? We aren't supposed to talk about anything manga related in CC.
"The Best of #HS" was a thread that could be posted in CC because it had nothing to do with manga. It was like a Chit Chat, but on irc. So it fit perfectly.

Now, I'm not sure where this could be moved, because indeed there is no "ST Hub" section. But I still think it might not be in the right place here.

The comparison is correct. The purpose of CYM was to make confessions (which almost no one does now, as confession equals to disclose one's wrongdoings/secrets; just telling what you did today is not a confession). You cannot discuss much about those kinds of things, I think, and so, one of the purposes of the thread has become for members to chat, which is now completely acceptable. DCL's purpose is also for conversations. The purpose of this thread is the same as those two but for ST-Hub members.

You can also have some sort of IRC chat on DC++; that, and the OP never talked about manga. As long as they keep it to events related to discussions on the hub, I think it is okay. cpr agreed, she is ChitChat's mod; I think she knows what she is talking about.

I agree that DCL's purpose was to spam from the start, but I still don't think the CYM thread comparison is acceptable. The CYM was never as formalized in its purpose as you defined. The fact that deuce created the thread should attest to that (no offense ), as well as the first few posts in the thread. I'm not sure how you expect the CYM thread to be different considering that you can't really 'confess' to anything obscene for fear of ban and also the 'confession' really has no value considering we're posting as anonymous users on an internet forum.

Also, there haven't been any real arguments over the existence of CYM since it was made (aside from the occasional bitching/participating by Steal). Whereas, this thread has yet to actually discuss anything about #HS and is purely debate over its very existence :P

Also, I just want to clarify that I have no problem with the existence of such a thread for ST-Hub members, but I just think the start of this thread is pretty unacceptable, especially since it is supposed to guide how and what is to be discussed in the thread. If the 1st post was edited to suggest that this thread was for the hub discussions, I'd have no problem. Honestly, I think you guys are blowing the problem out of proportions. This is just a matter of proper thread etiquette rather than a spam discussion.
