Chapter 175 Discussion - Look who's back! ...Sort of!

(Too lazy to link, but the scanlation is out, and it's been days, so...)

I found this chapter exceptionally boring and am feeling discouraged at the path this is taking. So G was that little pervert after all (who doesn't look like Lavi?), with the help of some giant ball in his head. We also discovered that Marie really is blind (or has bad eyesight?) - oddly enough, the most important part of this chapter. Emilia is pretty cool; I sort of wish she'd stick around in the story since she's a pretty good romantic match for Kanda (well, in personality, not in interaction, but it's nice to see that she isn't really a fangirl at all. She's a pretty interesting person).

Oh, and then the I-can't-see-the-level-4 thing at the end. I suspect this match will be a repeat of the last one, with Kanda being more powerful than he should be.

(On that note, do all level 4s look the same or what? I loved that design, personally, but...)

Who was the kid? Have we seen him before?

And yeah, was interesting to see Noise has no eyesight

Yup, it's the same kid who groped Emilia in the first chapter they appeared in.

Didn't it say Marie was blind in the fanbook, or...?

I dunno; in 172 it seems like Marie can see.

And D.Gray-man has kinda been sucking lately. Hopefully we'll get through the random filler, that kid better not make it to the main cast, and get to interesting stuff.

There have been indications that he can before, like, well, being able to walk around unaided. This sort of came out of nowhere, to me.

I agree. These last few chapters haven't been so great, minus the 165-171 bit that wasn't half bad, at the least. This was too soon after the zombie arc, and just not all that great in the first place (but devastating at such a time). Too comedy-oriented.

You're right, actually, it does say that in the fanbook. I just haven't really sat down and read that yet.

I guess he uses echoes and vibrations to find his way through daily life, like a bat??

I don't think that part of the fanbook's been translated, actually... I've seen the basic data stuff, and the pages for the main four characters, and the 'history' stuff (not all in the same place), but most of it's been kinda left alone. No surprise that most of us missed it - and then that it was revealed in such a way in the manga (most Japanese fans would have known this already).

He could, but... well, is that possible? I guess if he doesn't bump into things... (But then one would assume that he'd still notice the thing STICKING OUT of Timothy's forehead, so...)
