Thread: Favorite/Least Favorite Character

Due to the fact that I haven't seen this thread yet after looking through the board, I've decided to create it just to see which characters everyone seems to like.

To be honest, I pretty much dig all the characters. The series really does have an interesting cast of characters, and a lot of the villains (at least, of the Noah) are likeable in their own ways. However, if I had to pick favorites, I would have to go with Allen (from the heroes side, with Lavi and Lenalee tied at second) and Road from the villains side. I can honestly admit that I've always liked Allen in that he's fairly different personality wise and the way his character is shaped then most shonen series, and seems to gravitate almost closer to a shoujo hero character. As for Road....well, I have to admit I have a bizarre adoration of "cute" crap, and when it's evilly so, that's simply wonderful. Her utterly sadistic and dark humor has been a great reason for it as well. I've been listening to the soundtrack for the musical "Avenue Q", and I can't help but be reminded of her when I hear the song "Schadenfreude".

As for dislike....well, the only one I truly and honestly hate is Kanda. He just made a really poor impression on me during his initial outing with Allen in volume two. He just apparently....acts like a total asshole to nearly everyone, with the only exception being his assholery to scare everyone off when he confronts Skin. Still, I just haven't seen him do anything to cause me to like him.

My favourite characters are probably Allen and Lenalee, since I have to defend them from haters so often. Ha. I just think they're really different from most characters that share their roles in shounen manga, and that the personalities that they do have are fairly likeable and realistic. Allen, for example, is less open and calm than most heroes, while Lenalee is a genuinely strong heroine who actually fights (and isn't the one with the special skills that ends up saving the group). She's the one who wants to protect the group. Their personalities aren't really exaggerated, and I like seeing their interactions with each other and the other characters. ^_^ The more I think about things like that, the more I like it... Komui is another character I like; while it's easy to get annoyed at his more... enthusiastic... moments, he's shown a very serious side that provides an excellent balance to his character. I want to see him have a greater impact on the plot...

There's also Timcanpy. Everyone has to love Timcanpy. He gets eaten by cats, bites people, eats food when he isn't supposed to be able to, chews on curtains... he's just plain cute. I like his simple personality (if that's what it can be called).

As for villains, I don't really have a favourite. Lero, maybe?

On the topic of characters I dislike, Road would have to be at the top of that list. It isn't that Hoshino has done a bad job of writing her character, or that she interferes with the minds of fans in ways that I don't like, but merely that her character type isn't one I really like. (Midna from Zelda: Twilight Princess is much the same. Every time I hear that giggle I consider throwing the Wiimote at the television.) There's something really creepy about her - and not just her apparent sadism, which she seems to share with other Noah. It's like she treats everyone else as toys... It's really weird.

I don't like Kanda, either. His character is just too generic. There's really nothing about him that makes him stand out as a quiet, people-hating swordsman and rival to the hero, aside from maybe being stupid and we haven't seen too much of that. I honestly can't really see Kanda as being good for anything besides comic relief. I suppose Hoshino could always make him a jackass for no reason at all; I'd probably like that better. Unfortunately, it seems Kanda will have some kind of dark past like nearly all the other characters, and that'll explain why he hates people.

And finally, I have an intense loathing for Rou Fa. She's a fangirl. That's all there is to it.

Yay. :3 I just hope those aren't reversed. Road does seem to be a pretty popular character outside my little world... by which I don't mean these forums...

Rhode Kamelot (she's awesome, and her surname is Kamelot... Kamelot!!!)

Least favourite character:
I do not disilike any character but, right now, I'd say Chaoji is the one I find to be the least interesting.

Most fave:
Road Kamelot (that really is a cool name. And that whole abducting-someone-then-writing-"fuck-you"-on-the-wall-in-their-blood-then-ambushing-the-rescuers-and-brainwashing-one-and-
dressing-her-up-like-a-doll-while-nailing-the-others-arm-to-a-wall-then-stabbing-him-in-the-eye thing really won me over)

Least fave:
I'd have to go with Kanda as well. Wasn't a big fan of Crowley until the Ark, either. But that fight with Jasdebi really turned me around

I've always liked Jasdebi, Tikki and Rhode. But then again I generally favor the darker characters in stories. Those are my favourite villians, with Lavi being my favourite Good guy, along with Cloud nine, as she just rocks.

The Earl just irritates me generally, as does Chaoji. Chaoji's little freakout not too long ago really put me off him.

You weren't the only one who noticed that. ._. Didn't Hoshino get her name from some jewellery brand, though, and just tweaked the spelling? xD

On the topic of Chaoji, I actually sorta started to like him after he realized Allen hadn't killed Tiki. He'd been boring before, but it was good to see someone oppose the protagonist who's on the same side of battle and has a legitimate reason to do so (ie: not the Noah or Kanda). If that isn't brought up again in the manga at some future point, I'd be very disappointed.

Lavi, for having some character potential

Tiki, for having style'a.

Least favourite :

Allen, for filthy hands and out-crying Lenalee.

Tiki has style? Have you seen his polo shirts or whatever in the volume extras?! And the glasses from the garbage can?! Oh well, you're predictable. xD Welcome back! (Reinard and Kolox in such a short period of time? Cool~)
