Thread: Allen's new scar occuring earlier?

I was rereading through some of the older D.Gray-man chapters when I noticed in chapter 69 the same change in eye scar that occurred in chapter 133.

I wonder if the change in the scar pattern is somehow emotionally linked or arises when the eye is acting out of Allen's control...

There's something similar on the front page of 84 as well... I'm not really sure there's anything to it.

It could have something to do with emotion, or maybe just that the eye is evolving a little, too; the scar looked fairly normal when he got the monocle, but it seems most of those incidents have occurred since then.

So Allen's emotions not only affect his Innocence but his eye too...

The eye seems more subconscious; Allen can change the form of his Innocence with a strong will, but only when he thinks of it. The eye changes without his intention (that we hear, anyway).

Hmm. I also noticed it again in chapter 116. It seems to be appearing when ever Allen, to say, isn't totally in control. It could be when Allen is acting on account of the curse, or on Mana's drive for Allen to keep living.

Everyone has some time when he hasn't fully control of his emotions and actions...or isn't aware of it. So there IS the possibility that the curse (Mana? The remaining of the 14th?) takes over then....and helps in some way or other.

Mana's drive? I sort of thought the eye was a bit of a parasite itself, like his arm... and obviously, those things want Allen to live...

I DID put a (?) after my suggestion. I actually have no proven idea of what might drive Allen at such times. His curse is practically his eye, so yes, it's like a parasite-type.

I think it is, rather than "practically"; I think he would've lost that eye without the curse (since it looks like the scar really is a scar...). Kinda seems weird to me that it'd be a normal eye so much of the time, then.
