And not really expected form fan's side...I mean, after a life and death battle in the Ark now follows this.

It probably won't be a long battle, just something quick with a number of casualties. Anyway, I guess it was to be expected - the Earl couldn't leave the situation as it was, and it HAD been at least a few days.

Considering how unpopular the Ark arc was, I doubt it will. This invasion was probably needed for plot purposes somehow (and because it would be confusing if the Earl didn't do SOMETHING).

Good^^ Would be kind of strange anyway if this invasion would become a longer arc as well...I mean, just coming back from a big mission...and then pummel down into a life-death-fight inside of the own home base...without much of an opening or such.

DGM only ever had one really long battle arc, and we just finished it; I don't think this will be the same (and it doesn't really have the potential to be - I mean, what could happen? Another mad chase through the Ark? -_-). It might just be a few chapters long.

I suppose. And I guess every arc needs some battle scenes; it is an action-oriented JUMP manga... but they were never on the magnitude of the Ark in previous chapters (plus that would just be boring again).

That's true, but it was just pretty fast (actually understandable, but still it appears a bit out of sudden (not really, just the first thought xD)....though logical).

Yeah, it was sudden - but then again, a sudden attack is a lot more interesting than people planning it and taking chapters to execute it. It provides cliffhangers and shock.
