No, they know English, because Hoshino said that everyone speaks English. ._. And that's not an easy language. It doesn't make sense!

And English wasn't really that popular in 18th century - seriously, I might believe if they spoke French or something..because it was already era where Latin wasn't so popular.

19th century, Kolox - this is the late 1800s. xD I can see English being somewhat popular, as England conquered a good part of the world, but for EVERYONE to know it? That just seems a little strange.

Yeah, but not Europe - we weren't conquared by England and we couldn't care less about english. French was always dominant since it was the language of 'Nobility' - but not something peasant could do. Average Polish person in 1800s could speak Polish, Russia, Czech and some Latin - Nobility could additionaly speak French and full Latin. English wasn't that important for business..yes, actually England had little influence on Europe back then .

France was, to some extent... although I agree about the rest of Europe; Krory and Miranda shouldn't be able to speak English that well. At least the Chinese and Japanese had trade and stuff with English-speakers (although Japan was with America - so does Kanda have an American accent? XD).

You should know that French had extremely great influence on English, but I believe you know it more than I do, since you speak some French and fluently English..and that is one of the reasons why it became so popular.

I have no idea what kind of English used American in 1800s - I believe it's not what you believe to be today's American English..

The English beat the French armies before D.Gray-Man's setting, so I don't think French would have as great an influence. XD They already spoke mostly English in... Canada, for instance. That explains why Allen and Cross were in India at the beginning of the story, though. ^_^ They would speak English THERE.

Not military influence Digi, cultural influence - it was more like that people believed they are elite because they could speak French...and some believe so now too.

And yes, I believe in India they would speak English..no, they would speak every language - my sister was there and she was communicating by speaking..Polish..

What, back in the Victorian era? England was really involved in a lot of things back then, especially colonies and stuff. That's why they'd speak English in India - it was a British colony. (Hm, speaking of which, would Reever be descended from criminals? XD)
