On the other hand, in D.Gray-Man, very little is known about the enemy and history, which also might affect the balance of good and evil. That's why people get confused when they read DGM - if you're not thinking and accepting that there is a lot that hasn't been revealed, things make less sense. It's more complex...
Perhaps you are rigth, I can't say anything about the last arc of Bleach since I'm not reading manga (prefer its' anime), but as for previous arc's mysteries were caried out in a pretty good way.

And yes, DGM has a good potential in plot development as mysteries are solved. The question is if they will be used or not...

This could also be because DGM isn't going into the series of nearly unrelated arcs of other shounen manga, where the story *could* end but won't. There's a different flow to the storyline.
    Thats true.

There wasn't a lot to be curious about, with Bleach. Sure, we knew nothing about Soul Society at the time, but somehow that - and the mysteries - didn't have an impact on the action/storyline. To me, D.Gray-Man is ABOUT the mystery, not about saving a girl and maybe the world, too.

With the amount of breaks Hoshino-sensei is taking, I hope we will see those plot devices used...

I can see at least three mysteries that can affect Ichigo's relationship with S: 1) His vizard form - aren't all vizard's criminals? So if SS will get to know about his new form, won't they have to hunt him down? 2) Urahara's reason to leave SS and 3) same for Ichigo's dad. I don't know if these were unsolved already, but they deffinitely keep me interested despite this new load of bullshitish fillers.

On the other hand DGM's mysteries are more global - they affect not only main hero but the whole world structure as well. It may make them more interesting then Bleach's ones.

Yeah, there are mysteries, but it *won't* affect the general battles and stuff. It also seems to me that a story like Bleach is more about the battles and fighting while D.Gray-Man is about the story. That's also why the attacks/abilities are less defined and there isn't really a power hierarchy like there is in other shounen series.

Or she could just be taking long breaks because she feels like it... it does have nice art, anyway... this is reminding me of Berserk...

(Reinard, have you read Tsubasa Chronicle?)

No, they won't affect battles, which are deffinitely more important in Bleach then plot, but they will affect plot developmetn, that is still there.

I agree that Bleach is more about fighting, then DGM, which is more about the story. If you put it this way, then yes, mysteries in DGM are more important since they affect the main focus of it - story, which means that while reading DGM one should think more then when reading Bleach.

If plot development improves I won't be against 2 week breaks such as this one.

I'm sure the plot will improve. This last arc has been all about fighting, but we've had important things revealed in between things. So many questions needed to be answered... I'm sure something very interesting will happen at the end of all of this. One thing that can be said for D.Gray-Man is that the overall story is not predictable at all; after everyone gets out of the Ark (?), there have been no hints as to what will happen next.

(Tsubasa has gotten amazing recently. It was always interesting, but it took a sudden turn around chapter... 120 or so? and that's the kind of thing that would be excellent for D.Gray-Man. It's gotten much darker.)

Yeah, we can only suppose what will happen after they leave Ark, nothing is easily predictable. And that's great.

Indeed. ^_^ And even the things that were predictable were foreshadowed, like Chaoji getting Innocence and Cross appearing in the Ark, so it isn't as if DGM is a predictable manga at all. Since one has no idea about what will happen next, it's different. ^_^

Remember to read to the Tokyo arc~ It's kind of different before. Ahhh, it's so good!

Wow, since this guy said it liked One Piece, I thought... but yes. Stupid.

*will go suffer withdrawal symptoms from no DGM for two weeks*
