The first one to become suicidal might be Komui if Rinali will hastily get married
I think everyone had this impression, the title was supposed to confuse (was it a title of some opera ?).
You know - at least this is my opinion - but I think someone should say Clamp that putting a girl into goth-lolita clothes or make some characters wear dark clothes doesn't really make manga dark. (BTW : When a character is bleeding in X-1999 or T:RC, they are still beautiful - if you want to build dark climate, there should be some grotesque things).
First he would try to kill her husband. If that doesn't work then he might kill himself...
The title was from a song.
Oh well, let's just say that, with that kind of art work, CLAMP will never be able to make a dark manga-story with that impression.
Rinari would hate him if he killed her husband - that's not something he could mentally bear.
"Monster" was dark, but it's not a shounen. Neon Genesis Evangelion is...dark..somewhat. Actually, the whole hidden thing might give impression of dark, but then there were other important matters.
DGM is getting to sweet sometimes - there was this great idea in which Earl put everyone into confusion whatever his side is the "evil" one and unjust - but presently, the division between "good guys" and "bad guys" is so obvious. The story is still good, but I think it wasn't it purpose to be a story about good guys beating up bad guys - it started by being a little traumatic and maybe with some hidden massage (for good v.s evil we have One Piece, which makes a good job of it - there were never promises that OP will get dark and it shouldn't - such division fits their plot).
I HATE YOU. O_O
*Everyone is grey in D.Gray-Man... well, I think the NAME would give that away.
*Anita died. She was cool. Suman actually ended up dying. Just wait for it.
*Character changes in Bleach? At least Allen probably won't have multiple-personality-disorder.
*Except that everyone can do something because they're natural weapons.
*Guts, yes, but... seeing your parents murdered, then you're kidnapped to become a weapon and can't commit suicide because they chain you to a bed? UMMM...
*The enemies in D.Gray-Man are definitely dark and icky.
*Rinari did try to commit suicide... years ago. And technically, she did go out and fight that level 3 expecting to die for the entire fight (which is different from not caring what happens to her). I can't see her doing it now, because she has people close to her, but she did try it once.
*If anyone's acting like "I don't care what happens to me if everyone else is okay"... well, it's not JUST Rinari... because pretty much everyone does that. ("So I'm wounded - okay! I'll go fight that akuma anyway, even though I have no chance of winning and my death will just endanger everyone!")
*Komui would become homicidal, not suicidal. I don't think he'd ever kill himself because of that, though - besides, if Rinari marries someone from the Order, she isn't going to leave him anyway. He'd still try to kill her fiance/husband, because he wouldn't be thinking. ^_~ Or maybe if he was sleeping.
*xxxHOLiC has a dark style. VERY dark.
This arc in D.Gray-Man hasn't been very dark unless you think about it - the Crowley arc, which I remember fairly well... Jasdevi was calling CROWLEY a monster (and what he did at the end, I don't blame the poor Noah). It's subtle, but although the Noah are super-evil, the Exorcists are getting worse too. I wouldn't be surprised if the story completely turned around even in the next few chapters (because Allen NOT killing Tiki must lead to something bad).
*Beside the title, there is nothing gray there ... beside Noah skin. Maybe it was about noah skin, this Grayman
*Who is Anita ? Who cares about Suman the Betrayer ?
*I actually find this idea with multiple-personality-disorder as cool.
*That's what makes it boring - since they are invincible - it's seems Superman had it tougher than Allen team
*I think you made up this thing with suicide - they might have chained her up so she wouldn't run away or move while they would do experiments (probably painful). They past are also...pretty simple - tough but not complex. Allen doesn't care about being a weapon, so seems Rinali.
*Yes, I never said they weren't - but that one alone doesn't make it whole dark
*I don't remember if there was suicide - and she went to fight with determination to win and not with determination to die. It's a lot different.
*..so what's your point ?
*Rinari's words "I hate you, brother" would make Komui die on spot..wait, that would be a murder then, not suicide ? ...Komui will perform Karoshi
*Yeah and it's completely different than X-1999 and T:RC - it doesn't concentrate on making everything and everyone beautiful (Watanuki isn't beautiful).
*Crowley being a "monster" was undeveloped potential of making the plot dark - he accepted the fact that his powers are unnatural and that's it, nothing more to the story - a little disappointing.
*Hoshino-sensei said that it referred to Allen and some other characters (...).
*I liked Anita! Besides, we all expected Suman to live, after Allen's efforts, and... he didn't.
*Yeah, well, I'd rather have Allen just turn evil.
*They're not invincible, it just means that everyone can do SOMETHING. Even the Finders can do stuff. When it comes to protecting people, well, no, but at least they can fight for the Order.
*And her hands are bandaged... WHY? They also said that she was unconscious and that they can't let her die.
*Allen and Rinari have technically been weapons for years. Besides, what else are they going to do? Become farmers? o_o They don't have families, remember?
*There was. She did want to win, but she also didn't seem to care THAT much about dying in doing it. There wasn't a kick-ass option, just a take-it-out-with-me one.
*Er... suicide? Ehhh, she wouldn't say she hates him... well, actually... if he killed the love of her life, she might. And then. o_o Lots of death. 'Cause Rinari wouldn't live with two precious people gone, right?
*Yes, but xxxHOLiC is by CLAMP. Incidentally, Rinari and Hinamori share a seiyuu...
*It doesn't change the fact that we have to think of Crowley from a different perspective - Jasdevi is just a human, after all. I'm sure there's darkness to come. Allen purifying people is too good for D.Gray-Man.
*Allen is not gray - as long as he doesn't turn out to become the last noah, he is as white as possible (even his hair are white)
*I didn't expect Suman to live - was he alive back then ? I don't remember well, but I think he didn't had a body anymore
*That's cool - but I would like to see a psychological change in him and at least a reason he turned evil, not just because someone manipulates his mind or he was struck on head too hard
* That's the point - the dark climate is when you have the least possible ways to survive - so something like a freaking sword appearing out of nowhere shouldn't happen
* For all this time, Allen never complained he was a weapon - no, he actually was happy about it - and they don't have such strict rules like in Chronos in Black Cat or Claymores.
* Eliadne wasn't such a bad idea either - a fated to fail fight with your true nature
* If you decide on taking an opponent which is stronger than you, thinking that there is no way you will die is quite unprofessional. Rinari from the beginning when she became exorcist was prepared to die in the fight, there is nothing new here - she was just extra determined because she already lost someone and she didn't want that to be repeated.
* I think I knew what you wanted to say but then I was unsure if I was interpreting it well, hence the question
* If Rinari abandoned him and left with other guy, he would die on spot - he seems to believe it himself
*I don't know who from Clamp is doing XXXholic, but I feel it's different than other works of the rest Clamp projects (although they are forcefully connected to X-1999 and T:RC which I find completely meaningless).
* .. from whole this arc, Crowley looks 1000 times more human than Jasdebi.
*Yeah, his HAIR. It would make sense if he was a Noah, since they're pretty gray, although the Exorcists are, too; they fight for "good" yet aren't always so good themselves.
*Allen wanted to save Suman, and he might have lived if Tiki hadn't killed him.
*...I agree, and I'm sure it will happen that way.
*It kind of sucked that he couldn't save the akuma or Suman, though. Rinari can't save ANYONE right now. That's dark - it's almost like what happened in Berserk, with less adult themes (since Allen and Rinari, no matter how you look at it, are a bit young for adult relations with anyone).
*Because he didn't have any other choice. He had other problems with Cross, and now he has friends and a life goal. As for rules - they've got rules. One aspect of being a General is doing your tasks when you want... so obviously the Exorcists don't have a lot of freedom. They DID keep Rinari locked up so she couldn't escape or die.
*I guess. She just seemed a little... closed-minded.
*That Rinari isn't the only one who doesn't care about her own life to save others. (The example was Fou.)
*Yeah, and Rinari isn't going to abandon him since all the guys who like her are from the Order (and she isn't going to China with Bak, because she'll never end up with Bak). Rabi might leave... but Allen doesn't have anywhere to go... ^_~
*Tsubasa is a great manga - it really is shounen. xxxHOLiC is dark and wonderful.
*Yeah, because humans can reform their blood into a human and drink oil-blood- not really. They both looked like freaky monsters.
I hate when you get into these huge multi-point discussions.
