Thread: D.Gray-Man Anime Discussion

Because I spammed the thread that was about anime. Okay, not really. It was only half about anime.

So this is for the anime... not manga comparisons. Compare manga and I send Reinard after you. =P

So what do you think of it? I've only seen the first episode, and I found it better than what I'd been expecting - the opening song was... so awesome... so very awesome... oh, the anime? Well, so far it seems well-executed; kinda funny that everyone's speaking Japanese when, for once, they're not supposed to, but overall, not bad.

My one complaint is Allen's voice. It sounds like they did the Dub treatment, except the one that they do to the supporting male character - the Little Girl voice. Wonder if that gets better in.... the far future.

So, comments, criticisms, complaints, compliments? Got any? ^___^

Hmm... I have already watched up to the 4th episode of the anime. So far the artwork and animation are quite good (I liked the parts where allen activates his left eye, it's like he is activating a targeting system of sorts ^_^). I also agree with Eon about the opening theme "Innocent Sorrow" being great. ^^

Hopefully the series continues this way (or improves) until the last episode. ^_^

Speaking of the theme, I uploaded Innocent Sorrow - the full version mp3 - in the Music Trading thread, it anyone wants it. ^_^ I'm finding the ending theme - Snow Kiss - too, 'cause I've heard good things about NIRGILIS as a band.

I don't mind Allen's voice so much. He does sound insanly young though. Comlpaints. You would know. I hope that the next few episodes improve on their preformance. I WANT RABI D= His voice is the same one that played Zack in the OVA of Final Fantasy VII. I'm excited <3

I know...or I've read Rabi's voice is Hikaru's from Ouran High School Host Club (but I can't remember his voice...I only have the twins voice together in my head...)

I like Innocent Sorrow...the clip from Snow Kiss (full) is....awful...but the music is great^^ The clip from abingdon (sp?) boys school is good^^ a bit like the Japanese Hogwarts...

I think the Anime is pretty okay...although it doesn't fit the genre 'Gothic' that much...but good^^ I can't wait to see Miranda at the end of the 12th episode....and Rabi of course XD

One of my habits is compiling a list of seiyuu and what anime I'd recognize them from. =P It also helps me visualize their voices. For example, Allen's seiyuu is the voice of Kitaooji Satsuki from Ichigo 100%, which is... *ahem* and Tiki Mick has the typical villain seiyuu, Morikawa Toshiyuki (seriously, he's done so many villains... like Sephiroth).

Oh hey, Kanda's seiyuu has also done the voice of Cloud. Hm... Tiki Mick vs. Kanda, anyone. XD

Speaking of Ichigo 100%, Rabi's seiyuu was the voice of Manaka Junpei...

*chokes on laughter*

Yeah, and he also does Hikaru's voice. Okay, moving on to the FMA comparisons, Miranda has the same seiyuu as Winry... oh, and Nishino Tsukasa... what, did they hire the full cast of Ichigo 100% for this, I swear.

I don't usually pay attention to the seiyuu unless characters sound similar to another character from a different anime and I can't remember who or what it was from...it bugs me T_T

anyways, allen's voice doesn't really get any better. I've been watching a few episodes with my sister because she refuses to read the manga *grr*
The anime isn't bad, but they do like to tone down the blood and violence.

It indeed needs to be darker. Mor gothic tones, blood and violence. Or else it looks childish.

Manaka and Satsuki fighting monsters - quite an image. I wonder how is Rabi's voice (since i didn't watch Ichigo, only read), Allens is not mature enough for sure.


Opening song clip is horrible. Ending is a bit better but not good enough either. Both songs are good though. Wonder why they couldn't make clips that would correspond to songs quality.

I've never watched Ichigo 100% either, but you can imagine scary things...

Allen: "Hey, Rabi. <3" *crawls on top* "Don't you like me?"

Rabi: *nosebleed*

Miranda: "Rabi... I'm moving away to France to study baking with an older man."

Rabi: "Bye Allen! Miranda's just too cute!"

Generally, the animation for op/end clips is decent... I actually find them to be pretty good - I've seen much worse, sadly - and the greatness of the songs makes it all good. ^_^ *wonders if anyone's downloaded the full opening song...*

Though very fwe animes have really great clips I hoped that DGM will be among them. Sadly, it is not.
