The best thing about D.Grayman that I appreciate is that it doesn't stall for like 5 chapters talking about a concept or something about their powers in the middle of a fight. And they don't usually cut off a scene without at least referring back to it once in the same chapter.

It's so good I even went out and bought the Viz version, despite having downloaded it and read it on my computer - and that's a rare thing.

Out of curiosity, I've heard some label this as being slightly in the romance genre. With the exception of the glasses-researcher-person... what are they talking about...?

DE, I have no idea. I for one have never heard that XD? Its interesting what some people come up with. Besides the fact that everyone wants to protect each other and that Linali had those scenes where she cried over Allen then there isn't much.

The only other manga that I have bought besides D.Gray man is Cafe Kichijouji (which stoptazmo has the first two volumes of. Recommended for people looking for pretty art and lots of insane humour.) I love mangas that are fast paced and don't have many boring moments. I hate those long explinations between fights, kinda pointless and very unrealistic. Not that... the fight scenes are realistic in themselves.

Yeah, because we all know crying over someone you consider a friend means you're madly in love with them. And considering that Rinali and Allen seem to be the closest thing to a couple in the series... *eye roll*

I just hope it's not like Black Cat and at least one couple gets together by the end of the series (even if it's weird, like Miranda and Crow-chan or something). Just one couple. By the end. But as it is, I like the way character relationships are forming. Works well with the series.

I've bought lots of manga, but usually they're the ones that I either bought before hearing about downloads, ones that I can't find online, or ones that have more volumes published than scanlated. One of the only ones I bought after reading it online was Yakitate!! Japan, and that's a REALLY good manga. Shows how much I like D.Gray-Man. =3

I love the fact that D. Gray man is not turning out into a romance, it would kinda ruin the feel of the manga. People can cry over their friends.... why do some people have to twist those kind of ideas around. Anyways.

Cafe Kichijouji I started reading here at ST. I can't remember where I found out about D.Gray man though... sometime in the summer of last year? Either way, D. Gray man is something that I could probably read over and over again. The artwork kicks butt and I just love the concept, so it was definatly worth buying. I love it <3

Well, it's one thing to read into it - I do it all the time - but to interpret it as romance is another thing. As I said, there should probably be minimal romance, seeing as these are young people with feelings and such, but if it does turn out that way it must be background... because you're right, it's good as it is without it turning into a romance. All the action manga I've read where that happened... well, they went downhill. Not that they were much like D. Gray-Man, because I can't see that happening at all, thankfully.

The artwork is really nice, isn't it? ^_^

I agree with your about fight-instead-of-talking thing. And with the romance one too. If it will be, and i'm sure it will be, it mustn't turn into main thing leaving aside the main plot. Such a turn will ruin everything for sure.

    Agreed. With both of them.

And i love the artwork too. This is BTW, another thing which is worser in anime. Unfortunately.

But that's not exactly specific to D.Gray-Man... most anime have worse art than their manga, including hair/eye colour changes. And anyway, with such great art it must be really hard to make it as good for an anime, which requires more drawings, right?

You are ight, this goes for the most of animes...not all but the most of i have seen.

I'm not familiar with programs they are using so i don't know. But i think anime is drawn by not only one person, and they all have a bit different style. I belive this also decreases the quality of work.

It is drawn by different people, but I think that manga-ka have assistants to help them too? It could be that they just help with shading and all, as opposed to the actual drawing. *shrugs*

On the topic of manga, Viz is only on Volume 4. So unfair... I'll be reading scanlations first. Which is good, but not good when you consider that others are waiting.
