A tablet will usually run you $1500-1700+

Not that I'm spamming, But you can get one for cheap by going to dealnews.com and setting notifications to e-mail you when "tablet PC" Is avaliable. You throw customization out the window though when you order it this way.

Thats how I got my laptop for sub 1000. Its a Lenovo X60 tablet PC, and I love it. Its really helpful in Japanese class, where you have to write complex Kanji, and not really skilled with the JIS fuctions.

Plus you tend to remember things better when you write it out anyway.

My tablet is really useful for notes too. I can just write on the screen, and I can search for the notes later due to the word recognition.

No loose leafs papers to lose!

I wonder if Tablets are really useful in 3d animation.

I'm not using a tablet PC, I simply cannot afford that >.<

Mine was a Wacom Bamboo Fun. Was. My brother took it away again. It was a short-lived dream T_T

Anyway, thanks for all the replies. Drawing with a tablet was quite a different experience compared to drawing with a pencil or a pen, and it was really fun. Although the pen tip was very unstable so one has to get used to it first, afterwards it becomes easily manageable. It beats pen and paper in the fact that one can fix/erase lines with ease. Coloring is also a breeze. Also, lack of a scanner wouldn't be an issue anymore.

Maybe if I manage to steal that tablet sometime, I'll post some drawings again. Until then, it's back to analog for me...

My intuous 3 was around 200-300 when I got it, if I remember correctly (yay for pricegrabber finding me the cheapest one, haha)

I'm still getting used to using it, and it's been almost a year and a half now...then again, I don't use it as much as I should, I'm so used to doing all my art with a mouse that it's almost hard to switch to using a tablet! (and I use a thumb-ball mouse, too!)

But, it's pretty fun to use, I just need to practice with it more...Practice is always the best thing for anyone, really :3
