Thread: Tet's Illustrator work.

So I finally picked up Illustrator. I have been in and out of the file for the last couple of months now.

Each thumbnail shows the progress I have made. The latest one is what I finished early this morning.

Keeping in mind this is my first ever piece in Illustrator, I'm pretty happy with it so far.

Opinions, C&C please.

good vectoring, tet. the hair could use some work though.

her eyes are freaking me out. they're too light blue and creapy! aaaaaaaaaaaaah!!

lol still looks unfinished but that's some awesome work in the making ^_^

I don't know much about vector arts, but this one looks quit good for your first try. but I think you should work a lil more with hair, eyes and lips, they look a il hmm "flat". ^^; if you know what I mean..

don't you just love illustrator..... vector art is like the next fun thing after photoshop.... :3

looks good so far, but i am curious as to what u plan on doing with it when ur done? at the rate ur going at, u might as well have just the photo u used for reference (if u did use one). u also might wanna throw a 3rd color in the hair, one that's btwn the 2 u already have to pull the hair together. but like i said good work so far, dont stop.

What you can see of the hair so far was just practice so I knew how to do it after I completed the face. I'm saving it for last so its far from done. Thanks.

Lol, ok Ill see what i can do about the eyes, I don't think I can do much though.

Thanks Silver! Vector art is just tracing with style. I am sure you could do it with a little practice.

Before you mentioned that about the lips, I was pretty happy with how they looked, but now I can see what you mean so I have a few Ideas on how to change it. Thanks.

Yea, notghing is more fun than Photoshop, but Illustrator takes alot more patience. i look forward to taking this illustrator pic into Photoshop afterwards.

I don't really plan on doing anything with it, Its practice. The thing about just using the photo, If i did i wouldnt be able to play around with different vector styles, and using a simple filter like cutout will not have the desired effect will it? The original picture is pretty low rez anyway, so I wouldn't be able to do much with it anyway.

As for the hair, I intend to add at least two more colours, as well as colour and gradient overlays.

Nice. I like her eyes. I love it, her face is shaped very nicely.

I don't like the black outline. It just doesn't fit the image, because you were using color to shape her face in the first place. Some areas of shading just looks too angular and out of place, like the shadow by the corner of her lip.
