I have my own studio ;)..( http://members.home.nl/d.boxtel/Heiny/heiny.html <-- what I normally do).. Already worked for Jamba, Davitamon, astonish factory and Hallmark in the past.... But although I've always been interested in making comics/manga my style was never suited for the job.... Atleast not what I think the standard should be...
But since I've got positive feedback I think I just give you guys a link to the second part.
I made this 2 years later so the drawings are a tad better.....
I really hoped to get some more replies in this topic :(
Still keep going with this project.... I've been roughly continuing the the script of the future storyboards(working on part 12 now).
Also been working on redesigning the main character:
I really hope to get some usefull replies.....
Your art styles very nice, it reminds me of the old Disney comics like Scrooge McDuck, and somewhat of Asterix and Obelisk.
However, your art style is a little weird for the story at least at the beginning. It is too friendly and sillyish to work well with the beginning of the story.
An easy fix though. I'd suggest one of two things: Either roughen up the art style and make it not sooo adorably cute. Or, add more humor to the story as it will fit the art style well. Its hard to be caught up with the evil of a monster infested world when half of them are so cyuute.
I realized on the second part what was the weakness of your narrative. Cut out all the narratorish parts and it will sound a lot better. You write the characters dialogue and thoughts very nicely, but it feels slightly stiff and cheesy for the narrator parts. Try to figure out some other way to connect than the small narrator parts.
I like it so far though. It's got some weak pages art-wise or narrative-wise but over all it flows nicely. Also the redesign is an improvement reminds me a lot of Toriyama's work in dragon quest.
I'm rather curious why you are doing such a standard Mangaish styled plot though. Your art style is well suited for the indie American comic styled, dynamic comedic world. So what inspires you towards this kind of comic?
