Thread: Effie's Work

Okies since some people actually like my work I guess I'll post some of them on here. You may notice that the medium which I drew on are different sometimes, that is because now I'm actually drawing in a sketchbook ^^;; Yea, it's weird but up until now I've never had an art classes except art history and such. The drawings that look clean are done on 8x11 printing paper and the yellowish drawings are done on 11x14 classic cream? lol I don't even know myself because of my inexperience. The 11x14 picture might look slanted or somewhat, that's because my scanner in't big enough to scan 11x14.

I'll just leave it at these two for now until I feel motivated to posting more.

I doesn't look that bad, you're quite skilled, just a few points though. The first picture is out of proportion, especially the back. L looks great but his fingers are a bit skinny. The third and fourth look good too, great shading and nice details, the hands look good there as well.
Keep going and i'm sure you'll get even better

I'll keep body proportion in mind the next time I draw. But I kind of liked the way the picture turned out though. ^^;; please keep in mind that I haven't taken any art classes until this semester. Even so the sketch book drawings are so I don't have to write essays We actaully had a choice of drawing of essay writing. I'm surprised that some people actually chose essay writing.. I'll add on more pictures once I get feedback on the ones I have up now.

Try not to make excuses when getting critisized. Take it in kind, if you don't want harsh crits say so.

It's good, but L looks kind of evil.

I'm sorry for making excuses >.< I get really defensive whenever I'm criticised because I usually disagree. I'll try not to make anymore excuses but I will defend some my work against criticism or offer my point of view when someone finds something wrong with the picture.

Going back to Pheonix's criticism I do feel that the back for the first picture is out of proportion especially the back But I can't do anything about that since it was done in pen. But as for L's fingers it was done on purpose to portray his sinister side (Ish a Raito fanatic, hates L)

Again I'm really sorry when I got defensive when I was criticised but I will try harder to deal with criticism as this itself is an experience for me. I'm not fond of my own work and it's not shown to people I know.. (This itself seems like an excuse so please bear with me.)

Theese drawings are all very good and excluding what was already mentioned I dont see much wrong with them.

Hopefully this doesn't come off as mean:

You have a lot of talent, but I don't think anything will excuse the proportions on the first picture, whether or not you like it. I can understand the back part of her being smaller because it's farther back, but the angle of the picture doesn't allow for that. Had you drawn her form the front, at a higher angle, you could have gotten away with her lower body being much smaller than her upper.
From the camera angle you drew, her head is much to big for her body.

The same perspective problem appears in your last picture, towards the leg area. If you notice, you made his hands a bit bigger, because it's coming towards the page, which makes sense. The problem is that the hands are on his knees, which also come out towards the page, so it too should have been drawn bigger than usual. It's hard to notice because the page cuts off there, but had you drawn the whole thing, it would have been very noticable.

These kind of things are good to keep in mind as you draw. I would like to see how you sketch, guidelines and such, if you do those things at all. A lot of times, proportion problems lie in the initial sketches and lines that you make to guide the rest of the picture.

I know a bit about drawing (you can decide that by looking at drawings I post), so it's not like I'm just ranting off about things I don't understand
