Thread: Endless Waltz Wallpaper

Something I cooked up

You could say this isn't 100% my work, and you'd be right. Why? The font for the words "Endless Waltz" was way too hard to draw. So I used a font. Everything else you see here is the my work down to the core line. The head is sketched from a poster that had only portions of the head revealed. The rest of the head is completely my design, based on other references I had at my disposal, thanks to Google Images. The feathers are created from the very awesome feather tutorial provided by In_Tenebris on BioRUST.com. The Gundam fonts I actually made for a club at my college. Enjoy.

a great effort in but only one word describes it, FUZZY. in more ways than one, the size might make it sharper at lower resolutions but the image is just straight fuzzy. even the text is fuzzy. seeing how the word gundam is written makes me think this was a concious decision but not a great one in my op.a also it looks plain with the straight black backgroud, one quality i find in all wallpapers i download is that if i look in any particular area of the picture theres a story or something notable. the feathers look out of place because theres nothing in the picture to have feathers to leave floating around to begin with... now endless waltz being the only gundam experience i truly loved i know the feathers come from Wing Zero at its finest... but everyone else doesnt know that and it just looks like someone took a 12 guage to a seagull in front of your wallpaper.

but hey, its an excellent effort and you win points for not making a tiny ass picture and tagging it a wallpaper. simple and effective is what it is if not flawed.

TY. I'm more minimalist in terms of wallpaper. I can't think of what to fill the background with, and I'm striving for stuff that I can make so that I don't end up in some massive lawsuit over plagiarism.

this is just my opinion, but personally I do not like them. simply because it's too plain and pixelly. I think wall papers need to be visually interesting, even if you wanna keep it simple (which is good) the main image or focus point HAS to be interesting, especially if it stands alone, then it needs to be a strong image. the text doesn't appeal to me either, just because it's pretty sharp and edgey and seems to have been placed randomly.

I do give you props for the concept, it's a good idea but I think you need a more interesting picture/image (cleaner and smoother too) in order to make that kinda wall paper work. don't get discouraged by what I say though, keep up the good work and keep showing us more. hopefully what I said helped you in some way.

It's kind of boring. Minimalism is not something easily done. There has to be a much better balance and feel to it. In fact, there is not enough empty space to call it minimal. Your term of minimalism seems to be more about lack of detail, which does not help your wallpaper.

I suggest you use official pictures of gundams, rather than drawing your own, just for wallpapers at least. Your gundam, though a great effort, looks kind of childish, in that it doesn't give that serious look you're going for (with the bullets and feathers). It looks more like SD Gundam...

Hope that's not being too harsh. Elcura said all the nice stuff already, I rather not repeat.

I'd prefer to do most of the artwork by myself, as this is how I keep my painting skills in check during the school year (colorwork, blending, etc.)

In that case you may want to avoid wallpapers and concentrate on drawing the gundam itself.
