    Default I want a 24 hour buzz 24 hours a day

10/31 Update--- random sketches on page 3.
10/10 Update--- lonely chibi on page 2.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Seems nice to have a thread that focuses on your own work.

Starting off with some more realism... I don't have anything original in terms of manga-like sketches (yet). But I really enjoy drawing portraits, so here they are:

    Stella

^Finished this one recently, drawn from observation & imagination (took it home with the hair unfinished)

    Karum

^posted this one before, but I decided to compile all my works in this post.
-photo reference to the beautiful cosplayer Karum (even more beautiful in person!); her website is here: http://album.blog.webs-tv.net/direngrey

    All comments are much appreciated.

I'm sure you already know they look excellent. ^_^ I especially like the way you did Karum's eye-lashes!

Nothing much to say here, awesome use of shadows, I'm not a fan of the pencil smudging thing but it really works well here (on the first pic more then the second). I would like to see more (you could call it) orignal work, I think your realism is pretty tight (how long have you been drawing?)

very good. but you could shade them more. they seem a bit light. make your shading darker and it'll look better.

Very good, seriously. I could never attain that level of drawing in my lifetime, haha.
Actually, the lack of shading on the second one fits the image very well, giving good contrast for the outfit and her skin color.
The hands on the second one though look funny to me. It may be the scan, but one finger looks a bit off. I can't say much though because I'm terrible at realism.

Interesting, you could have done better with the hand and fingers thou (2nd pic).

Elcura - I don't really like the blending technique myself, and I'm not sure if it was the scanner (or maybe because the paper became so dirty from my hands) but the shading on the face is actually the result of light pencil strokes. I also think it might have to do with the texture of the paper that makes it look smudged. Anyhow, I've only tried smudging on the face here:

(only coincidence that the angle and mood for the stella piece is similar to this one!)

Here is a piece with more obvious pencil strokes and attention to technique =D

And regarding your question, I have been practicing portrait drawing for about two years. Which makes me wonder.. do you have work to share? If so, please do!

flash, nataku_0 - I couldn't really see the hand in the picture so it was a pretty sloppy job (plus I used a mechnical pencil ~_~). I'll be working on drawing hands in the future though.

Tayuya, Dante Obscuri - thanks for the encouragement!

sperm worm - thanks for the comment & observations. I am trying to vary my tones more and accentuate the areas of contrast between dark/light.

And...this is a random exercise that I did in my sketchbook out of my imagination with watercolour... (medium which I haven't touched for five years or so ~_~):

    that's all for now folks.

That first one looks really nice. I've come to realize, though, that these realistic pencil drawings are truly best appreciated when you see it in person. The scanners truly do you no justice.

That watercolor flower looks cool. I love watercolors, but suck at it :P

I agree that the scanner doesn't do certain mediums justice. But we'll just have to live with it I guess.

Thanks for your comments again. You really ought to try watercolors. The first step to improving is believing that you don't suck =D

I recently just started drawing my own characters (manga style)........
it's not much and I suck terribly. I am going to buy those wooden models to study proportions and difficult angles.

Anyhow, these are just some profile sketches, not polished at all. I can't seem to get past the shoulders yet orz

And yes, I like young boys.

    Yoshihiko-kun

    -does not like crowded areas
    -does not like to talk
-has a habit of staying neat and clean

    Shintarou-kun

    -he's a little badass.

    Shinji

-he gets bored of city-life easily.
-meditates on the meaning of life from time to time.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

Despite my lack of skills, I had a ton of fun drawing them.
