I didn't really care much until Cynthia raised that topic. But I've been wondering, does that mean nobody but the organization knows that other countries exist? If yes then GOD they are clueless, that means they never tried to travel by water (using boats or ships) before.

The story is basd on a middle ages scenery, the europeans didnīt know about Amerika, australia and antarctica either that time, we only knew about asia and afrika as they were very close and reachable by foot.
That the people of that continent donīt know other continents isnīt that surprising.

Even in old egypt they had surgery. Genetics? sure about that? I donīt remember that I read something about it and I donīt think that people of the story continent know about genetics. Maybe people of the other (as war always supports science), but I donīt know about that

Don't talk about genetics please. From biological point of view Claymore makes as much sense as Naruto. And yeah, its not surprising they do not know about other continents. In middle ages Europe Russia and Poland were exotic countries, and they are not far away at all from, say, France.

As I donīt know Naruto I canīt tell, but noody ever said that the claymores are constructed by genetic technologie, and though I donīt know what the author had in mind, I doubt it was gen tech. My gues is that the flesh of the Yoma is more like a disease, infecting the body with the "awakening" as final stadium or maybe itīs just some kind of alchemy.
I agree that it makes no sence, but that doesnīt really matter. The only thing that really intrests me in relation to claymore creation anyway is their chest.

Implanting Yoma flesh so that it transforms body completely and introduces new functions to its alreay made parts - I say genetics, since its impossible to alter the way the body works without altering genome - unless you constantly supply it with medicine of course. And yeah, that doesn't really matter so whatever ;P

As claymore plays in a world with dragon kin and mystic energy my bet is on alchemy, but as far as I know diseases can influence the cells so I donīt see a reason why the flesh/blood of mystic shapeshifting monsters couldnīt do that as well.
Well it would be more funny if they began to sparkle to be eat up by birds (parasite style)...

Depends on what you mean by "influence the cells" - if it viruses then they simply enter genome of host cell - and thats indeed what genetic engineering is all about. If its about bacteria - they influence cell from outside while not altering genome; but they never do stay in one body for long, after the relatively short period of breading they either go out or kill the prey.

Unless cells of Yoma possess transposones or something similar there is no way for them to alter hosts genome in any way.

Personally I don't really care at how you mention the genetics thing. I see it more as a "frankenstein" phenonomon where you stitch material togeather and get something stronger. It's sci-fi/fantacy no need to over think it.

As far as people saying that if Clair will suck if she doesn't make nice with Pris because of Raki, well this is still simular to Berserk in some respects. Our main charactor has had something life changing happen in their life, and refuses to let it go. Thus it becomes a sore subject for them and they become something to deal with it. It is a classic plot device that is used all over the place and I for one would like to see the "sad" plot line on it pull though. Over all I think that giving Clair a point where she makes the wrong decision at a critical point about the main thing she cares about could turn the story in a way that would be rewarding for us all.
