If she were defensive, her hands would have grown back. And then she would said..BIATCH.
Clare is offensive due to her personailty, and somehow Teresa being "defensive" strikes me as odd considering her personality.
Also, a #1 being defensive doesn't seem right. The organization seems to "tailor" their high ranked warriors and it seems #1 and #2 are offensive types and #3 and 4 are defensive. It would make sense in if you have to take out higher ranked awakened beings, you would need attack power to kill them first. Galatea had trouble with Duff for instance and she's defensive.
1) You can't be serious about that.
3) That doesn't really make sense, you can't really control what warrior will gain the power to become #1, their power is the same whether they are offensive or defensive. Only thing that changes is the style of battle and the only case where they did control the #1 and 2, their types seemed offensive and defensive respectively. Also Galatea had trouble with Duph because he was ranked 3rd previous to awakening. Rank 3 Awakened > Rank 3.
She had trouble becuase she was a Defensive type, I think that much was obvious. Considering Jeane is an Offensive type and yet ranked 9 and could still blow away parts of his body.
And yes, being an Offensive or Defense type Claymore would manifest in MORE than just their fighting style.
Being one or the either determines your abilities*Although I'm also thinking the abilities might just be something inherited from the yoma used to make the claymore. EX: Clare has Teresa's ability, which Teresa got from the original yoma.*
Let's look at the offensive types' abilities:
Vibrating Sword technique,
Duph's "Rape Nails"(No official name given),
You get the idea.
Let's look at the Defensive abilities:
(Sense Youki not included due to clare being offensive and thus it could go either way):
Ability to control Other people's Youma Energy,
Ahem moving on:
I would say being either an Offensive or Defensive type DOES INDEED reflect via the abilities.
The problem is Teresa is basically the "I don't like limits" character of claymore and screws everything up. And since she never REALLY had to go all-out in a fight, it's hard to say what her main ability would be if awakened.
As for her Lack of Regening her hands: You do realize there was not enough time for that right?
Deneve took alittle while to heal a hole in her, and a claymore in the War of the North had her arm removed but was stated it would not be a problem so I believe it regened before ROUND II of the north.
Teresa was be-handed and then beheaded within MAYBE three secounds.
It took a moment for her to realize her hands were missing, completely regening them before being beheaded=unlikely in my opinion.
Defensive or Offensive doesn't matter in such a case, as I do not believe there is a single claymore with THAT impressive regen skills.
So I'd say: It's a crapshoot. There's really no way to tell if she was one or the other in my opinion. But people coming together with good THOUGHT-OUT theories would be nice as atleast it would perhaps be believable.
P.S. : I think wanting to "Protect Everyone" is still a Defensive mindset. It's a less "Selfish" one, but still defensive.
The only reason Jeane was able to strike Duph was because of the assistance that Claire and Galatea gave her. Galatea on her own was powerful enough to cut Duph's hand off.
If an offensive type were to get hit, they have no skills to either defend them self or ward/heal the damage after it were done, whereas a defensive type would have the capabilities to deal with it better. Both, given the same level of overall power would have had their limbs chopped off, regardless of type.
If an offensive type were to attack, they would have the skills needed to make damaging the opponent easier, making approach and punishment much more straightforward, whereas a defensive type would have to spy for weaknesses (case in point, Jeane ploughing through Duph and Galatea manoeuvring around to look for weak spots).
In an ideal world, you would be able to do both things to be the ultimate warrior, simply being able to hit hard != strength, cause if you get hit just as hard as you hit then you'll be in trouble should something actually strike you. Same works in reverse.
Ultimately, what I'm saying is that the type didn't matter in the long run, power did. Galatea was powerful enough to hold Duph off and do some damage, whether she was offensive or defensive the end result would have been similar, but overall there would have been a few differences (Galatea taking more damage and not having the energy/stamina to fight later (the core manipulation that helped Jeane) and Duph maybe having taken more damage)
I'd say Teresa is Offensive. That is what it says in the Data book at least.
what is Alucard?
I think Teresa was a Offensive Typ.
If you are Number 1, you got to have Power, too defeat every opponent!
Clare has the same desire to defeat get her Revenge!
