Thread: Clare&Teresa ORIGINAL THOUGHTS

Just wondering, after thinking about it myself, what was everyone's original thoughts on Teresa and Clare before the Teresa Arc ended? This might be abit confusing so I'll give my original thoughts as an example:

Due to a lack of clarification(no pun intended) when Teresa was introduced, I believed Teresa was a Claymore during the same time period as Clare. And when Teresa decided on a name to give Clare(Being of course Clare) she stated that Teresa and Clare were twin goddesses. To me at this point I was thinking that Clare(not Pre-claymore Clare. I was thinking them to be different people in the same timeline) and Teresa were actually sisters. Being that she gave the young girl the name of "Clare" since her-theorized-sister-Clare and Teresa were seperated and probabley not going to see each other for awhile.

In other words I thought Claymore Clare and Claymore Teresa were Sisters or atleast very close Friends who existed at the same time and that Pre-Claymore Clare was just a little girl who was not the main character.

Care to share your original thoughts on their relationship?

Nothing much on their relationship outside what was shown. I chalked pre-Claymore Claire to have been named solely on coincidence, considering Teresa's rationale. Like you, I also thought Teresa was a Claymore during Claire's timeline. Thinking that the mangaka was just showing another side/perspective of the story and aid Claire's.

I'm glad the tricked worked on me though, made volume 5 beyond epic.

I have a nasty wikipedia habit and read the major character descriptions in advance so I wasnt confused at all.

I was thrown for a bit, I'll freely admidt that. I wasn't too sure if it was the past or present in the story when they first went to the Teresa arc. It was done well, where I couldn't tell for sure (untill little Clair shows up), and in the end I think that was the right move.

It certainly made her death ALOT more "...O. M. G. WTF JUST HAPPENED!?". See I started with the anime, so I got to see the whole thing animated in six episodes. So unlike the manga readers I couldn't just examine the page while it was happening to realize it. I had to sit there and be WTF'D to death about a hundred times over. This was an especially big hitter on me since I had already placed Teresa as a major Main Character in the show at that point, thinking her to being Clare's rival of sorts at the time.
I would love to get a snapshot of my face when it happened. @_@

I also thought that Teresa was a Claymore from Clare's time period, but I pretty much had it figured out as soon as Teresa gave Clare her name. At that point, I was just thinking 'how long's this flashback gonna last'. Course, I definitely wasn't thinking that near the end. >_>

I bet the reason you thought Teresa was gonna be Claire's rival was because of the intro. I remember how hard I laughed when I saw the intro thinking "so many people are gonna get the wrong idea", and it turns out to be true.

I had the same feelings, I guess that's why Claymore is great, it pulled a fast one on most with the Teresa and young Claire arc, then kept on going without getting old.

If anything it kills me to wait so long for releases to the point that I want to skip chapters and just read volumes as they release, like the good 'ol days when 10sigh translated whole volumes until the series got current, and I was reading chapters back to back.

I was just luck that Teresa picked that name for Clare.
mayby she thought that they could llive a simply live without fighting.
Or that she was happy that someone loved her back, because being a claymore is hard to find a lover.
