Significance of the Claymore

As we all know, awakened beings need not fight with the use of their Claymores (the sword) as they can use their abilities. Be it stretchable fingers, toes or claw- like weapon etc. However, I find it a little fascinating that they all totally abandoned their Claymores after they awaken. The only 2 awakened beings that kept their Claymores or even used it would be Rosemary and Priscilla.

Rosemary used the Claymore as a disguise as she wanted to trick Teresa into believing that she was still a Claymore and the sword makes her look more Claymore-like. Priscilla used her Claymore and slashed Irene with it and she flew off with her Claymore. Maybe it was for convenient sake as the sword was in her arm when she awakened and Irene was along the way, hence, she slashed Irene with the sword. She flew off with the sword maybe because she forgot that she was holding on to it. (Well, Im just coming up with something to explain why she used and flew off with a Claymore)

So what do you all think a Claymore is to the warriors? Beside serving as a weapon and a way to identify themselves, what else do you all think it represents? Why wouldn't the awakened being keep the Claymores? Could it be the swords remind them of the old times that they did not want to remember or was it due to practicality?

What else could the claymores mean? Other than the things you have already stated? It is all of the above and nothing more.

I personally feel that Awakened beings leave their swords behind because of what it represents. Their former selves. Not to mention the fact that their abilities far surpass the use of a Claymore in battle.

it's a weapon but in the meantime a symbol, and both lose their meaning after the awakening (unless to trick other people as you said).

I think it's for both reasons.

I don't think it has anymore other purpose than what was already stated.

I'm wondering why wouldn't they keep their Claymores.

Some people like to keep stuff and I think regardless of what they are now, they should have some erm lingerings for their lives when they were a Claymore? I just don't get it how some Claymores can just walk off the spot where they had awakened and totally ignored their swords and whatever was around them.

The claymore is more of symbolic gesture of the half breed being tied to humanity still. By leaving behind the claymore they are leaving behind the thing that represents their last tie to humanity. Also for some it may also be the representation of their connection to the organization. By leaving behind the claymore they are separating themselves from the organization. Also they may only just not notice were the sword ended up and couldn't be bother to retreive it. Also it becomes an incovinces in most of the awaken forms that are aquired since it becomes a little impractical to weild an sword if your body is made with hands that find it difficult to weild a claymore because of its size and shape since they are design to be a two hand weapon wielded by human size hands with aposable thumbs. These are the only things I can think of for the reasons an awaken being would leave their claymore behind.

If I can shoot from my fingers and my claws can cut boulder, Claymore sword is just unnecessary baggage...some of awakened beings wouldn't be able to use it so well in their new form (for oversized hand the claymore sword is like tooth stick - not really reliable weapon to use).

Its handle can also be used as a dildo when they get lonely, lol.

I'm sure the men have a lot of fun with that idea. Surely every female has thought of using the handle of a sharp object to pleasure themselves.

There isn't anything to add to this topic, you pretty much answered every question in your OP.

Duph probably still has it and uses it as a toothpick to pick out dirty pickings from his fowl mouth after eating alot of human and yeah it would look very stupid for them to use a Claymore when they're practically giants unless they made Claymores the same size as them. Claymore swords have no real significance once someone go awakened anyway. With increased power, speed, endurance and vitality that comes with awakening you can probably find better weapons to wield than just a claymore, for instance I wouldn't be surprised if someone like Duph went to go find a giant axe or a club to go around wielding in his human form rather than a claymore. It's probably more to do with the fact that they are just strong without the use of a sword anyway.
