    Default Episode 22 "SPOILER"

I figure we can make one new thread for every anime episode that was aired (just like what event did for ep21) and leave the sticky "Claymore anime" thread for the general discussions on the anime.

A bit of spoilers to tease you all

Ok so in this episode I was abit shock with Rigardo's arm being chopped off. Not that I didnt know its going to come off but its just that there was a focus on his arm and Im a bit scared of seeing limbs flying around and lying around on the floor. I chose to scan through the manga quickly when it comes to parts of limbs lying around.

The fight scenes are ok just like how I always liked it. I was going "iieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee................(No ooooooooooooo) because I can see Miria being beaten up around a bit and those blood flowing down her head seems pretty serious. And we see more of that stupid raki reaching enlightenment about .....(I deliberately left this out to tease you all) But that one on Jeane was really unexpected. Im not going to spoil anything for you guys so we'll have a major discussion after you all gotten the English sub version ya

Aaargh! More like 'a bit of teasers to spoil you all' X_X

Question. From your POV, is the story beginning to fall apart with what's going on between Raki and the Abyssal Ones, or does it look like it'll be able to stand on its own for a solid alternative ending?

I had no problems with the way the anime deviated from the manga in episode 20. No problems with eps 21 either. (Because of the knowledge it will end in 26 eps and a 2nd season is next to impossible. I'm thinking that they somehow got a hold of the mangaka's ideas for what happens as the manga goes along, and we're seeing a compressed version of it in the anime.)

Grrr. Now I'm scratching my head trying to guess what happened to Jeane.

If you have no problem with episode 20 and 21, you will be cool with this episode too as it did follow the manga closely for the most of it. (eg: the various battles, people who died in the manga died in the anime, fight between Rigardo vs Miria & Clare all present etc)

Now my answer to your question,
I think the story is able to stand on its own. Maybe it might be able to have an ending that can be found in the manga. My reason for that is because Raki did reach some state of realization but he's someone like "Oh i see...." but didnt do anything drastic (drastic as in trying to be super hero or something).

EDIT: Superhero as in he did not go try to save the world by killing the 2 main antagonist
If u're a fan of Clare-Raki relationship, you will love this episode.

I thought the action and animation was good, the ending was a let down sure. And the break ups with the Raki part were annoying.

I agree with Elcura, Raki's part were unnecessary and only interfered with fight progression. Although overall i liked this episode.

In the begining of the episode I realised that I didn't like Rigaldo's voice, it doesn't suit for a Lion king to my mind. Enyone felt the same way?

Compared to what has passed in the previous episodes, this episode seemed to be one of the worst IMO. I have very high standards when it comes to Anime series. And I thought Claymore would stay out of the way of the generic Anime series we are flooded with on a weekly basis nowadays. But alas, towards the end of this great series, things are falling to shit.

The animation was on and off. You would have a few moments of nice smooth animation (Miria running on the roof) followed by poor animation. The procrastination in this fight that is suppost to be fast and immediate really gets to me.

I find the part where Miria running on the roof kinda cool and her mirages were cool though. But just too little focus of her fight. They only show her maybe a few seconds and then switch over to another scene (to the raki scenes).

And frankly I almost broke my labtop when it shows Raki-Priscilla-Isley scenes. I was nevertheless happy that Raki decided to ditch Prisc and team and to run off to find Clare.

My reason for saying that the anime might stand on its own is that I feel that everything is going about the same as how it is in the manga (to some extent). I think the battle part might be over though raki is riding a horse straight to Pieta. Hence, Raki might re-join Prisc and gang. Though Jeane seemed to be helped by others (at the back), I feel that she will ultimately die in the end. Those who are suspose to die will die and I think maybe they might end the anime off at around the part where the 7 regenades saved Clarice's life? (just my speculations)

Btw, I wondered how horses survived in such cold conditions. Poor horsey running around in the snowy weather

Okay. Two things I don't like about this episode.

One. The flashbacks. Way too many flashbacks. This kind of thing is a naruto/bleach cheap move which only serves to drag the scene and screams "FILLER!" It's like sucking the juice right out of it, Hollywood style. Yes, it's nice to see how Raki loves Clare and his confusion/horror for Priscilla, but those facts are established already. Yay, Raki is showing off his determination thru--flashback galore?!

In some places during the Raki moments, it really felt slow, dragged, and repetitive.

In other words, the use of flashbacks here doesn't really bring any new insight.

Two. The sequencing between the fight and Raki's lovey-dovey scenes. IMO they could've lumped the whole Raki thing in the beginning then transitioned to the fight in Pieta for the second half of the episode. Or divided it into four parts with two devoted to Raki's development. They chopped it up too much--four Raki scenes--by the end so that's why some of you guys feel like its detracted from the usual pacing we get in the series.

One a minor note, Rigardo needs to sound rougher. Rawr. (And that's Kimba the White Lion, not Simba!)

    What I liked:

The Raki/Priscilla moments in there was oddly touching. And the fact they didn't deviate too far off from the original storyline. (The moment Raki discovers Priscilla is an Abyssal One will definitely come someday in the manga.) And yah, good for Raki, he doesn't try to play hero and swing his sword at Easley. Woohoo, Clare is at the brink of full awakening! Killer eyes.

I wonder if they'll drag out Critical Point I too, which is, as far as I'm concerned, Invasion of Pieta III.

    EDIT:

Btw, I wondered how horses survived in such cold conditions. Poor horsey running around in the snowy weather
Horses are cool. Yaks, musk oxen, auroch deer and shaggy ponies are cool too, but somehow they never get around to drawing them...:P

I was hoping that the anime will end off somewhere in the manga. Hopefully Madhouse dont do stupid stuff like..........

    - Raki finding an awakened Clare with limbs and tried to bring her back.....Got killed in the process of trying.
    - Jeane survived with the others
    - Many others survived (more than 7)
    - Clare met Isley-Priscilla in Pieta and start her life and death battle with Pris

EDIT: I dont like the part where they show Rigardo with a missing arm. I was like..."hey that looked like some meat from the freezer".
