could be. it woud explain why they do'nt care about their clothing. it may be also that the earlier methods of yoma/human fusion were a lot more surgical than now.

I've always assumed the issue surrounding this aspect of Claymores deals with deformation, like most of you have. Its most likely a scar (possibly open and discolored) with yoma skin graphs. This has been said before of course, and I wonder if more light will be shed on this later or if it's a completely forgotten aspect of the Claymore anatomy. Maybe it's just a soft spot on a Claymores body left over from the fusion of human and yoma, and not necessarily scarred up but very easily disturbed (hence Ophelia's little sampling of yoma-blood or whatever). It might not take much to draw blood from such an area. Anyway there's definitely something there or else Clare wouldn't keep touching that area every time she thinks of Teresa.

Also I noticed in several scenes in the anime that we do get a clear shot of Clare and maybe one other Claymore (Jean comes to mind). I can't post screens because I'm not at the right post count but I remember one of the scenes was where Clare is getting out of the lake/pond after being saved by Ilena. I believe there's a side shot of her as she exits the water, and in it you can see essentially from just bellow her neck-line (above the breasts), and there's nothing illustrated there. In the manga there isn't a shot of her upper torso it's just a shot of her foot stepping out of the water (page 127, vol. 7).

The other instance on the top of my memories is when Jean gets knocked down along with Clare while fighting Dauf. Once Clare stands up (to Riful's surprise) and asks Jean if she is still alive, we get a shot of Jean and despite the fact that most of her body (i.e. the naughty bits) is shadowed she's still visible in the upper torso area; once again nothing is shown. And in the manga no shot like this appears.

A final instance is actually just after Clare hits that douche on the head with a stick. When Teresa stands up and points the knife at him, I'm fairly certain we get a clear shot of her upper torso area (at least somewhere around this scene). Again this is the anime so there's not always a reliability like there is in the manga. You don't get the same view in the manga, as with my previous examples. And then there's the dream sequences that Clare has while passed out in the rain, in the manga you can even see Teresa's nipples (page 155, vol. 5) but no sign of a scar in the same area. Mind you there is some strands of hair covering that area slightly. I think in the anime she's wearing her outfit.

Once I get more posts I'll see if I can find the screens and post them. Anyway - my take on it is I wouldn't care what she's got graphed onto her chest, I'd still attempt to hit that. Every other part of her seems to be nothing to scream in terror about, quite the opposite actually.

well chapter 82 has some new infos for us

it seems that every claymore has those deformations on the belly.

damn^^ i hoped it was only teresa for whatever reason.
but it a lot more convincing that all of them have those deformation since teresa stated somewhere that she never overused her poweres, so it would not have make much sense that she alone has such deformations.

Do the Awakened Beings retain the same deformation in human form? Isley didn't have anything during his sword practice/bishonen display.

maybe they heal it after they awake or it can be in different place in the man.
