Thread: Your Prefferance for the Names

As you know some people have multiple names and its finally started to annoy me. The known names are

Rigald - Ligardes
Illena/Ilena - Irene
Raphaela - Rafaela
Miria - Millia
Deneve - Deneb
Galatea - Galactia - Galatia
Ophelia - Ophilia
Priscilla - Prisilah
Duph - Duff (Homer's Beer?!)
Rubel - Lubel

I think thats all. I personally like the names on the far left side than the other names people have come up with. =.=

most of those are just phonetically differences between english and japanese, even though they can (and will) be spelt differently they're pretty much pronounced the same.

Although some of those (Galactia) are just plain wrong. I tend to stick with the first terms I came across, which was the translated manga (not the 10sigh stuff, the actual buyable books). The names translated into what I use now. Ilena, Deneve, Miria etc.

The most annoying one is Quick Draw vs Flash Sword. I think Quick Draw sounds so much cooler. I think there were other ones, but I can't remember.

With the exceptions of Ilena and Rafaela (I don't care what anyone uses), the names on the left are WAY better. Some of the ones on the right just look really stupid (especially the alternate for Deneve). I've never seen most of those, though; are they official, or what?

Edit: Galatea's other names are just wrong; her name is romanized as "Garatea". Deneve's name also has a definite "v" in it (besides, having a name end in -b is impossible in Japanese). Apparently, though, Ilena really is "Irene".

Quick Draw just makes me think about Battousai/Iaijutsu = Rurouni Kenshin so I much prefer the other term used by the manga I downloaded off lurk, Quick Sword. I've seen one person spell Galatea as Galactea or Galactia >.> I'll search again and when I find it I'll quote it here lol.

Also I can't tell if some of them are official or not. But certain ones like Deneb or Galactia I think aren't official at least I hope its not cos it sounds gay

Well, that person is just wrong. =P Wiki has the romanized names of the characters, so it's pretty easy to tell sometimes when a name is off. As for the others, why not go with the more general names? I've never seen the alternate spellings for Ophelia and Priscilla even when not referring to Claymore, so it's probably just some moron who can't spell. I've seen that with other series, too (including one where the person's name was written out IN ENGLISH CHARACTERS).

Rigald the silver eyed lion king sounds much cooler than Ligardes which sounds just like Pilates.

Ligardes is listed as the name on Wikipedia, too. >_> God only knows what moron added that. Still, at least there's none of those other stupid names there.

Pray that never happens or I'll go delete it myself on wiki. Also you should well know that Wiki is compliation of everyone and anyone who choose to modify it to their will. Its not a definite source you should base off whats official or whats not.

I trust Wiki on the romanization of character names, though. =P I've had to edit some other links if people wrote stupid stuff... but anyway, I think we can be trusted to know the really dumb misspellings from the generally accepted names.

Galactia reminds me of Battlestar Galactica. Ligardes is some kinda vegetable...?Irene's a pretty normal name. Um. Deneb is a star. (I think.) Not rock star, but a ball of plasma. Millia, Ophilia, and Prisilah sound like bacteria and Lubel sounds like the name of a lubricant.

Aside from Irene, I'd go with the lefthand names.
