    Default Claymore Anime discussion.

Its in the title, I don't know why people are using image threads to discuss Anime topics.

Anyway, I am behind in the Anime, what is going on? What is this about fillers?

It was confirmed in the latest Newtype that Madhouse is ending the series with no intentions of making a season 2. That’s the reason most people are expecting it to diverge from the manga.

    Woot a Claymore forum!

I don't know what's this about fillers but perhaps there are fans who watched only the anime and feel that the last episode (episode 20) was a filler episode because there were no fight scenes.

Episode 20 was a great episode though. It will be build up to the battle that will happen in the next few episodes. I can't remember my sources but the Claymore anime will have an ending which is different from the Claymore manga. An obvious reason that comes to mind would be that Claymore manga comes out at around one volume a month in Japan. Currently there are 13 volumes of the manga out and the anime is already up to volume 10 of the manga. A second season of Claymore anime can only happen 5 to 6 years from now at the rate in which the manga comes out. I think the animators are trying to avoid another one of their previous works which the anime ended halfway in the story because of the lack of material from the manga, so they will have their own ending.

Already in episode 20 there are content discrepancies between the manga and the anime, notably in the Clare/Flora scene.

But I like how they are trying to keep the story in the anime consistent. I especially appreciate that they included the Undine/Deneve scenes instead of leaving such important character development out so that we can see more poorly animated fighting scenes. Through be told, the fighting scenes in the anime are abhorrent. Everyone seems to be using Irene's Flash Sword. I guess the animators are just plain lazy.

Back to episode 20: Spoiler below
Basically, we learn about Undine and Deneve's past through their conversation. We also see some Flore and Clare action, although Jean put an end to it before it begun. We seen Helen giving some comfort to a nervous claymore. Then we see Miria praying for hope.

This episode tells us how human these claymores are despite being half-yoma. It also sets the stage for the desperation that they are in, for the battle that is coming to them.

Oh man....I wish they could make a season two to it, but oh well I guess this is going to be like Gantz and FMA.

Well if there ever was a season 2, 5 to 6 years from now, at least the quality will be much higher and perhaps the fight scenes would actually be watchable.

Could that be perhaps, because most people use a technique like that in the manga? No, it couldn't possibly be. Could it be that the main character's technique IS Flash Sword? It must be the animators fault obviously.

You say the fighting scenes are bad, but you never tell us why? If you liked the fighting scenes in the manga I see no reason why you shouldn't like them in the anime. I admit they were quite lackluster until the Teresa fights, but after that they were very well done. Extremely fluid and full of motion, the team did a great job animating the mangaka's style.

The fight scenes in the anime are just as "watchable" as the fight scenes in the manga. Maybe you just close your eyes whenever a fight takes place?

Anyway, the only deviation in ep20 that bothered me was no Flora and Claire fight, but if the action in 21 is any good then I'll forgive. In general though, it was a great episode, fitting music, art and animation. Good VAs help as well.

I hope the ending will be good enough then
Well, anyway it was either that, or :
    - to make 5 years of fillers à la naruto, to then begin season 2 ;
    - stop it for 5 years, and then make season 2.

I wouldn't mind the last option but it isn't really viable after so much time...
If they make another ending they have not much episodes left to kill that priscilla though O.o, and it's a shame they won't have time to crush the organisation, though this can be hinted in 2 minutes after the final fight against Priscilla, saying "and then they went to rampage the organisation, the end"

@parry : I like the fighting scenes as they are personally.

Eps 20 felt like a filler only because there was no fight. Still, I think the lull in the fighting and the character development only helps to ramps up the tension more. Yea they deliberately changed several things from the manga but the storyline's been faithful to it so far. And that's a good thing.

Can't wait till Invasion of Pieta II and III. XD

Episode 20 is anything BUT filler. It's story/character development and a build up to the fight about to happen. Ep20 happens in the manga (not exactly the same) so it's just as important.

Filler in anime usually means the animators make up bullshit and nonsensical stories in between the parts that happen in the manga.
