Both sexes are batshit insane, but not in the same way
Just look at the statistics : in 2004, males were 10 times more likely to commit murder than females (in the US). And it is almost the same for prisons statistic (between 8 to 1 and 10 to 1).
Also, to quote wikipedia :
Gender is a factor that plays a role in both human and animal aggression. Males are generally more aggressive than females (Coi & Dodge 1997, Maccoby & Jacklin 1974), and men commit the vast majority of murders (Buss 2005). This is one of the most robust and reliable behavioral sex differences, and it has been found across many different age groups and cultures. There is evidence that males are quicker to aggression (Frey et al 2003) and more likely than females to express their aggression physically (Bjorkqvist et al. 1994). However, some researchers have suggested that females are not necessarily less aggressive, but that they tend to show their aggression in less overt, less physical ways (Bjorkqvist et al. 1994, Hines and Saudino 2003). For example, females may display more verbal and relational aggression, such as social rejection.

Wow, Ok. I wasn't really talking like...homocidal insane. More like workplace/general socializing insane...

Well, in the case of the Claymores I think this kind of "homocidal insanity" was more problematic to the organisation leaders than "socializing insanity"

well, claymore had the reasoning that a male was less suited to be a "tool" because of the urge to awaken and feel good. in that case, they "use" women because they have self control.
when you think about it, the mangaka is being sexist towards women more than men! omg!
in all seriousness, this whole man vs woman thing is silly imo, because people/personality + upbringing > sex

The upbringing sure is important, but nevertheless "there are differences that can be seen between sexes that are almost constant between cultures and places.", so I don't think it is silly at all...

I stated tendencies. As you stated female agression is more or less verbal and/or social in aspect (once again a generality). What I ment is men are more easily roused to actual violence. I appologise for not stating that clearer. I will also agree that upbringing does play a fairly large part in it, but so does basic physical diffrences between the sexes.
I always looked at it as males in nature tend to show strength to get position in herds and packs as well as to show off for the females. Which is what I thought of when the mangaka put the tidbit in.

well, that is true. but in claymore it wasn't so much violence that was the problem, releasing yoki was somewhat pleasurable and so the males couldn't control themselves so well and went above their limit in the search for pleasure, women could control the urges to awaken and thus were more suited. I mean, if it's physical violent behaviour then yeah, men are more likely to do things like that
I know the differences in sex and how that affects people, but I do think that because of how most claymores were raised and lived until the moments they awaken would affect how they deal with it. the majority of claymores (male and female) are extremely fucked up, I have doubts that males were really that different, seeing that there are a whole fuckton of male awakened they must have used males successfully for a long while before switching and even after, the female ratio is just as high.
when it comes to sex/pleasure, men and women are pretty much the same, they both want it, seek it etc and in normal society I think the main differences is how open they are about it. in the claymore world it's probably a little different but I don't really have time to go into that lol

I see. Well I haven't read the manga yet but the anime (or more like the ones who subbed) explained that the feeling of turning into a Yoma resembled sexual pleasure. I'd say that the number of man whores and woman whores is leveled out so I thought it was kinda sexist to say that men would succumb to it easier. Plus, I think women have less determination in general and break easier when under pressure.

About resilience, I found an article that was not really related, but this one sentence I couldn't agree more : historically women always had it tough and, after all, proved to be not just resilient, but “bloody way more resilient than men”.

this is why people don't fuck with black women. it's just not smart.
