Default Gay is the new Straight?

i was at a party for the last two days and one of my friends is EXTREMELY open with her lesbian tendencies, of course i enjoyed it for all it was worth but then i started talking to my friend (whos bisexual) and the four (me him and the two girls) of us agreed that there were just too many gay people, not genuinely gay but just followers of the trend that its cool to be gay. i sorely disagree saying that if you're gay it should be because you love your partner and no one else satsifies you the way he or she does, not because you want to look cool and trendy. the discussion was bought up because of an increasing number of kids at my old highschool have "left the closet" and announced relationships with others of the similar sex, even kids as young as 14 claiming homosexuality and then becoming very popular because of it. as a supporter of gay and lesbian culture and a staunch dissaprover of bigotry and bias (hey im black wtf did you think i was gonna say) id hate to see the culture shift to a primarily gay one instead of a free one where do dont have to put another mans cock in your mouth to be cool and popular. i joke around about it alot (see Gvaz) and now im seriously scared because now my old school is like 10% homosexual and id hate to see those numbers rise because of cultural pressure. how funny is it that in my sophomore year of highshool they opened an all Gay and Lesbian highschool; i wonder if that highschool is growing at the rate i see children claiming to be homosexual...

    anyways what do you think?

I'd like to die with the songs I love stuck in my head. I hope to make the most of these hollow bones we become.
I raise a toast to the the souls that sang all along. I've been gathering friends to just to make some sounds,
before the ship goes down, I've been making amends by making the rounds before the whole world ends

The trend signals certain levels of overacceptance and assumption, which I think will simply die back down in time. It would be wrong to say that it is like this everywhere, but balance will only come after the majority of the country has experienced a stage similar to this. That's what I think anyway.
Dear cousin choppitychop89, you were a good relative, though I hardly knew ye.

I seriously doubt that people start acting gay because they want to be popular. While it can be true in some cases I would suspect that the rising number of openly homosexual people is simply caused by homosexuality becoming more accepted, which is a good thing.

I dont see that trend anywhere I am. I go to a very open college, and, for the most part, people dont like to define themselves along words like gay and straight. I think it can be said best with something like this:
Youre attracted to who youre attracted to. They might all be men, or women. But it's not necessarily exclusive.

Pretending to be gay to get attention is silly, and im not sure that your analysis is entirely accurate. Its the same thing as when you lie and say you were in a fight. Its the same deceptive story. I dont think its a problem, per se, more than anything else. I didnt realize that you could go anywhere and "put a man's cock in your mouth and become cool and popular." Seems a little strange to me.

Yeah, I honestly didn't know any homosexuals until I went to college.

I just think in todays society it pressures your sexuality. I have no love life now in either sex and dont really want to get into a relationship till i get out of college. And because of that my family thinks i may be homosexual.

I agree with the idea of experimentation. I go to a school of arts specialty, where there are obviously many truly gay males, but I notice I don't know one actual lesbian (and I guess they're harder to find) - they're all bisexual females.

Now, I'm straight, and have never experienced any attraction to females, so I personally don't understand the whole "experimentation" idea. I do have two bisexual friends, who I believe really are - one thought she was a lesbian for years, or worried about it (she has a boyfriend) and one is in the most wonderful relationship ever and I'm really jealous of it =P (he has a boyfriend. Who is flat-out gay.) I don't believe either of those two are experimenting, but since they're such good friends of mine, it offends me to hear of others who are.

I counted more "bisexual" acquaintances among people I knew for years. Or months, anyway. They all were in multiple relationships with multiple genders and mostly were quite young, too. I doubt it's possible for that many people to actually be that way. I mean, if you actually are attracted/are in love with people of both genders, great - but don't pretend you're something you're not.

Online I see people experimenting in ways they normally wouldn't, and being bisexual for... I don't know. (There is an example I'm thinking of but I think this person is aware of it. Maybe. Not quite sure.) That's fine. I mean, be whoever you want, I guess.

It IS a fad, though. Not homosexuality - the gay guys I know are all flat-out gay and it's obvious - but bisexuality. Maybe we just see it more when they're homosexual. I just think people should be true to who they are and how they feel, and if you have a wonderful relationship with someone - no matter the gender - you should keep that. Only make sure you're actually attracted to that person in the first place.

i have a couple of gay friends, and they're completely fine with their sexuality- at least towards girls. they're so shy towards guys! and i doubt someone would pretend to be gay to be popular. in my sdchool, if you were gay, bullying would knock you over right away.

is it true that people who make fun of homosexuals arent comfortable with their own sexuality? i was in a biology class once when this guy started makin fun of gays and the teacher got pissed off and told him that.

    It's one theory
Mostly it's right but some people just think being gay or Bi means you're attracted to EVERY member of the same sex
I dunno about others but I do not fancy my friends...It's why they're just friends
Plus they know waaaay too much about me to get intimate with them it would be like starting out during your one yr anniversary or someyhing
Oh I'm Bi for those wondering
