I'm just saying that the idea of Parise Lost shouldn't be shrugged off.

I would have to look into it. Everything should be questioned, truth is important. I am not shrugging off anything on purpose. Sorry.

And that Jakko shouldn't always be considered right because he has long eloquently written post. And mine just tend to be short and incomplete... I'm just lazy.

The Church of Satan, as Jakko said, isn't so much Satanism as a different way of practising atheism. The CoS's version of Satan isn't a deity or being, but rather a symbol of one being one's own God and one's ability to choose his/her own destiny.

Ah, but do the Satanists actively mock Christians, or do Christians simply get offended anyway? I'm certain that some Satanists go out of their way to piss off Christians, but as a whole most Satanists don't really seem to care too much.

I must ask what these Cristian ideals actually are. In my experience "Christian ideals" can be anything from the near-socialist theology of certain Latin American priests to the reactionary asshattery of people like Fred Phelps and his ilk. Basically it seems as if Christian ideals are whatever its believers think they are. Of course this also applies to most other religions.

Not necessarily. If you are your own god it simply means that you must take all responsibility of your actions on yourself. Selfishness does not automatically follow from this.

No mine is not a symbol of being one's own god, but it is about one's ablity to choose his/her own destiny.

Serenity~ That's not why I agree with him.
It's true, Christian probably get offend fairly easily when it comes to satanists.
Christian Ideals. They are almost something you have to figure out for yourself, not that they are made up, but that they are interpreted. It can't be helped, freedom of thought you know. It's like an english class, the same phrase can be interpreted many different ways. I believe that there are some extremely scary mis-interupretations out there, but if you look at the life of Jesus (this is the basis of Christian belief) and look at his ideals. I would say that they are the purest form.
Perhaps I based the last thing on what I would be tempted to do. I consider myself fairly normal, but I should have put more thought into it. Still though, people worship gods right? So you should end up worshipping yourself if you believe you are a god. The part I am fuzzy on is the relation to other people, do satanists believe them to be gods too? If so what does that mean?

You can believe in a god and not worship it - like an evil god, for instance. Those are mostly in polytheistic religions, though, which Christianity is not a part of.

This topic is interesting enough that I will stay out of it and see how it develops. But just for clarification, Lucifer(Or "Morning Star"), according to the Bible, was the head of the angels, second in power only to God, and very majestic. He became prideful of his power, and wanted to be better than God, and led a revolt with other angels, and was cast down. He became Satan, and tries his hardest to fight God. According to the Book of Job, Satan is not the opposite of God, but still under his rule, which is shown because he has to ask God's permission to test Job's faith by doing bad things to him. Satan knows that when all is said and done, he will lose. He is not trying to win, rather, he is trying to take as many people down with him when he falls. That, at least, is what the Bible teaches.

    Have a good discussion...
