yes, it was supposed to be vary. I have type-os, sometimes.

and I feel like gender equality stands in good moral standing, so I'm not convinced by your argument in this case billy. no offense, or anything.

I totally agree, women and men should be equal. But we have to let the Indian culture evolve and grow itself.

yes, but what if they pass legislature oppressing women, or taking away some of their freedoms? where do we draw that line? That would be a bill that negatively, and, imo, immorally affects millions of people. Isnt that wrong?

of course, its easy to say this, less so to offer a solution with the proper outcomes.

No offense, DE, but the UN couldn't get force a bully to stop beating up schoolkids to save its life, let alone solve problems dealing with entire countries. The UN is corrupt and ineffectual, and unwilling and unable to take a firm stand on issues that would cause discord with other countries.

I think it does have its merits, and while it's losing effectiveness now, it can BECOME effective. Allowing other countries to start policing the world on their own isn't going to help anything.

No, no government should police the world, in my opinion. I think the UN should be dissolved. I say, let each country police itself, but other countries can provide as much indirect pressure as they want(embargoes, political pressure, etc.) and let the people of the country get fed up with it and change it themselves, because all things change with time, as will the opinions of those people. The only times I think there can be an exception to this rule is in the case of genocide, like in Yugoslavia in the 90's.

I was thinking of genocide. I do agree that countries should police themselves, but I do think the UN has its merits - and it's better than the League of Nations, anyway. If the UN did dissolve and a new system formed, it could easily be effective.
